Big brakes are nice.... but not really necessary for a club/amateur enduro car. It's awfully difficult to make it 6 or 10 or 14 or whatever hours if the car is being driven so hard bigger brakes are necessary.

And they come with the major disadvantage of larger wheels.

16" wheels fit tires that are much cheaper, and 16" tires have more sidewall which is significantly more forgiving on the mechanical suspension and driveline bits. Particularly true on the southern tracks that tend to use some rather harsh scallops and gators to deter drivers from using them too much.
I spannered for a team running a 325i in the VLN/NLS - they used stock ATE discs, endless friction endurance pads (£$£$!) and that ATE race fluid that's discontinued now. They would run the whole 24h on a set of pads. Can't remember how long the discs lasted, but it was at least 24h too.

I thought I had this all coded out but maybe not. Is there a guide to all the nannies and how to code them out? I was reading through the factory training guide for the E9X the other day and did see a lot more interference/nanny devices than I knew. Surprisingly a lot. Lol

As for the brakes yeah I don’t really need bigger, just good ducting. And working calipers. 🤷*♂️

To answer a question yes the caliper was still frozen when it was loaded onto the tilt bed. The tire damage is from that lockup not an accidental pickup from the driver.

With those nannies active on the track you will experience:

- Brake overheating
- Torque reduction
- Instable brake pedal experience

This all burn your brake when you are not aware (it will try to compensate for almost all your behaviour on a track) and eat pads and discs.

Dot 4 (Motul) and the replacement of your brakecaliper plastic bushing for metal/copper will do a lot.

Also, brake ducts, especially in the front makes a major difference.

The 335 m-sport brakes are a perfect combined with the above bushings.
Pagid does has great endurance pads for the 335 m-sport calipers.

I'm also consider some outlet ducting like most new bmw's have to release the heat from the wheel area. But that will require some cutting and painting.

Are you talking about BMW performance brakes like an F30 retrofit or stock e9x brakes? M sport and non sport have the same calipers.

I'd imagine stock 335 brakes, as they're a notch bigger than the 325 brakes...unless I'm mistaken! With those and decent discs/pads/fluid, you're all set really.

I could be off here, but I believe there is a difference between the US and EU spec of these performance brakes.

We campaign a 2006 325i. We have the 335 brakes and PFC 08s. 17" wheels. We don't use aftermarket cooling because carbon fiber is banned in the series we run. The set up works great. We are running a softer pad in the rear this weekend though. The rears tend to lock easier. Tires get expensive and pads are worse. I would stick with the OE and try the PFCs. We run Motul Dot 4 as well. Look into Turners power steering fluid tank. If you don't fab an underdrive pully, your engine bay will be covered. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-9...ing-reservoir/
It is an easy car to drive but it's heavy and underpowered. We've had to upgrade to the three-stage manifold, aFe intake, Autowerks header and Borla exhaust. We dyno at 269 whp with stock internals. The other issue on these cars is fuel. They are thirsty and can't make up for extra stops with raw speed. We have a 22-gallon fuel cell that affords us the 2 hr window.
The suspension we run is a 3 way with every M3 bit you can buy on all 4 corners. It finally turns now. Good luck with the build.

Yes, would love to hear more and I just posted progress report on our 2011 E90 endurance car build. We went with the 335 calipers upfront and got rotors and pads through FCPEiro to keep the cost down.

Sorry for the lack of updates! Coaching work and travel has had me busy and a stint over in Germany. I'll update you all on all of this shortly!

The E90 is back running again. For the time being I just put stock calipers and rotors on (all new) plus new lines. I have driven it to the store and back a few times to feel it out. I replaced the suspension that needed replacing as well. It runs and drives great again so it's back at it.

UPDATE 12/7/2023

So first off I'll briefly tell you all about our recent races in Germany. I raced in the NLS 12H which was a double six-hour weekend (two separate NLS races). It was awesome, day one was also the Red Bull show with Vettel among others. Tons of cool F1 cars, old DTM, V12 LMR, etc.



This go around I was in a FWD BMW! The 128TI which is quite a fun car. On Friday, we did have some handling issues that we sorted for Saturday. It can be a handful but it's no slouch. Hopefully, we can continue to develop it. We finished fourth on Sunday and a few times I had us in the podium spots. The Hyundais are super fast in that class though and even the VWs.



*Looks nasty but the bumper just kept coming loose. We tried duct tape. lol

The following weekend I was entered in the 1000km which is a historic race. This time driving the team's E30 M3. Qualifying went well but unfortunately, my co-driver hit oil and the car was heavily damaged so we did not start. What a joy to drive though even at lower speeds as I learned the car.

We cheated on BMW with our rental car though:



When I got back we slowly got the E90 back driving-worthy. We went with stock replacement calipers for now and of course new lines. I also replaced the tie rod on the passenger side which melted in the small fire from the summer track day.





We bled the brakes and replaced the fluid with more Motul. I have driven it a few times around to bed the brakes in and just make sure things are good. It feels really good so I'm happy. The car is actually listed for sale but we'll continue with it until it sells if it does. Main reason being I have so much else going on buying a race ready car would have made more sense but the E90 just isn't popular here for race cars like overseas it seems. But E36 and E46 keep popping up for cheap so...

I love this thing though.

Would like to know how mucho whp on 93 octane can you get of the N52b25 withou spending any serious money.
Also what is weight of a e90 race car w/o spending serious money?
