I think DRL's make lots of sense and should be required by law. Especially those idiots who forget to put their lights on at night.
My motorcycle and all others in the USA require a DRL |

Hahaha... It was just a question I posed. Just coz.... I was curious. It's not a huge deal at all. If you re-read the thread, I'm cool with it.Just wasn't sure if there was a way to turn it off.

Looks like they changed it again. Got a new 2012 335is cabrio two weeks ago (lease on my 2009 Z4 3.5 was up). My Z4 had the "always on" rear tubes (just like the cars noted here), but on my new 335is, the rears only come on with the headlights, no matter what the DRS setting...

Miscoded from the factory - and it went on for a long time! My late 2011 was delivered with the rear "DRL" taillights off.
Dealer should be able to figure it out (but will probably charge you an hour of labor). |

I personally really like that the DRLs are really "parking lights." It always seemed dumb to me that if DRLs are supposed to make you more conspicuous why are the only lights that you have on in the front of the car? Once I noticed this I said to myself "that's really smart" and I liked my car that much better. I wouldn't change it!
Props to BMW as well for using the angel eyes for DRLs and not high beams. I hate high beam DRLs so much. |

my 2012 E92 335is doesn't have rear DRLs. Does anyone know if BMW coded them out on MY 2012?

I think the rear DRL's have been deleted from newer models,
on ones I've seen at least it looks that way. I'm not a fan of rear DRL's. I don't like the idea of someone not noticing the light has got brighter because you're braking, and hitting you up the arse. I wish I could code them out on my motorbike for that reason alone. OP, did you get them coded out? I wouldn't mind getting that done myself. And sorry for digging up such an old thread) still, it saved a duplicate post clogging up the forum eh ;-) ) |

Sorry to revive a thread, but I just coded a 2011 E90 that had new software flashed to the FRM3. After flash (and before coding) rear DRL was off. After I coded amber delete and a couple of other non-light related items, the rear DRLs came on and can't figure out a way to get them off.
I tried resetting FRM through expert mode, manually changing the values back to default. Nothing has worked... Has anyone figured out how to code off the rear DRLs? |

I like DRLs, because so few people use "parking lights" that it's a way to see "this parked/stopped car is running and may start moving at any moment (and assume the driver is an idiot and won't look or signal)". I'd be OK if all cars had rear DRL as well.

That's right Amullo, you tell them, what it is like with DRL in the Nordic countries. DRL do shorten your detection time of the vehicle in front of you or coming at you. The days can be "less sunny" up here! |

Are you sure it's not dark enough for your Auto Headlights to come on?

I have the 09 E93. Rear lights make it look wider and better.
I'm sure you can code it out. This guy might be able to help you: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=965895 He helped me coded a few things and flashed to Alpina B3.
