I've just tried to connect up the charging and data port (part no. 8711939) and was not able to get the iPhone to charge or recognize the car. Original CIC USB 2.0 works fine. This is on CIC.

There's another possible solution:
BMW makes this adapter which pulls power from both the cigarette port and the USB port in the console to provide power and data: https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...le-61122167663 Was developed for the Combox around 2011, but should also work for 2009-10 cars with 6FL. Supplies 5V at 1Amp of current. Ordering one soon to confirm. |

True, just not nearly as good as a 2.4a cigarette lighter USB plug.

Man... I was hoping this could have been a nice clean and cheaper alternative to getting an android style screen.
Don't mind me... Just a newbie trying to get his post count up. |

Hello guys, since I only have navi business in my pre LCI e92, I am considering buying an Apple Car Play Screen. Besides wireless carplay, you can also use wired carplay through USB (the unit comes with a female USB-A port). Can I get myself a Male USB-A to FAKRA HSD Z cable and install the OEM socket in my armrest to use wired carplay? I guess the carplay units USB socket would be able to charge my phone while connected... will this break the BMW OEM USB-C socket? I guess if you want to charge the phone with the OEM socket, normally, you have to connect the three "power pins" to 12V, right?

Hello.
Does anyone know the pinout wiring for the fakra connector of this "Aktiv" switch? I use digital flash changer instead of cd changer with home made made cable fakra to usb A on my existing USB-AUX IN switch. Works prefect, but the 84108711939 does not read any data flash with the same cable and set hardware. Last edited by kagebista; 08-07-2022 at 08:24 AM.. |

Hey there, I have a 2007 E90 and did a CIC retrofit and am in the midst of doing a MMI Prime installation to have Android Auto. The MMI Prime uses the aux input from the original aux in/usb port (that fell through a while back). That said, since I don't want to run a cord from outside the console into the console, as is how they do it in their installation video, I was considering just leaving the original aux in/usb port fallen through (i.e. beneath the console storage area) to keep the cable hidden. Then, since the MMI Prime has a USB type A input, running an extension to a USB port that would replace the one that fell through - replace it perfectly so that it looks OEM. Not being super technical, how would a USB type A female end interface with the USB type c unit's input connections? Wondering how the FAKRA and 4 pin connections would link up...
Absent that, just finding a USB type C input that would fit the hole (or potentially a larger hole that uses the original hole as a starter) would be fine. I just want the completed product to look good. That said, I haven't seen any for sale that look like they'd fit well. Last edited by ifjd073; 11-30-2022 at 12:14 PM.. |

Is this cheaper than just buying a cord that's USB A - C? Or less work?
It's not like you're getting more juice out of it, so I'm confused why swapping out 6FL for this makes sense. |

Did anyone figure out how to get data? when I plug it in, I am able to get power to my phone, and my phone recognizes as being plugged into a dock, however my car doesn't recognize that a phone is plugged in and I can't play music.
