Is it better to buy bmw genuine if I am replacing just the front pads or get akebono with original bmw rotor. Since I am doing for the first time, I want an “easiest” path, so not planning anything on the rear, and not doing the front rotors.

Also, $1900 *is* criminal (and that's 9-year-old, pre-covid pricing!). But sadly not uncommon.
I don't think there's another area of vehicle service where the charged price is more out of line with how quick and easy the job is. |

Thanks for your input. For whatever reason, I decided to go with the BMW Genuine. Thinking it may be the “easiest” route for now. If it turns out to be an easy job, I will replace all 4 with akebono ceramic couple of years from now.

Same I switch to Akebono and wow it's amazing. I don't have to clean my car every week now
