By the way how are you planning on doing this? Are you actually having vinyl put on professionally?

Ever consider buying replacement aluminum trim and painting it? I know the black is expensive but I wonder if the aluminum was too.

Main reason I haven't really looked into it is because I would worry about it flaking and chipping. Be nice if it worked though.

Well since its not actually Chrome, i dont think it would chip/flake at all as long as it was prepped and painted correctly.

Still not yet I was scheduled to have the vinyl installed this past monday but sadly i had no one that could pick me up after leaving the car there. He needed to have the car for a good bit that day b/c he was really busy with other cars he had to finish. We rescheduled so ill post the pics with my new Sony a700 DSLR next week sometime after i get it done.

Looks great with the viny tape. I have my concerns living in NY with the extreme hot/cold temps...
Was thinking of taking my 335xi to my local body shop and having the guy spray it semi-gloss black with a clearcoat on top. They work cheap, can't imagine it costing more and $300 total. Well worth it. If I do it, will post pics for all to see!

I have the factory semi-gloss black window trim on 04' 745i w/ sport package. Looks so damn good. I just hate that chrome s*#t! This should be an option with the sport package. I bet in 09 they will since the 08 m3 has the black trim!!!
