Excellent. It'll be interesting to quantify the gains in efficiency (and so economy).

Good to see Simon doing everyone proud, Carlos i'm sorry that you couldn't get your car done, I hope its nothing serious and can be quickly rectified.
I can't wait to see what the Rolling Road says the new gains are :-) |

So much quicker, having roughly an extra 60BHP, the difference over a standard 335D is staggering, throttle response is sharper, power delivery smoother, and just overall power everywhere is just plain silly - You'll know exactly what I mean when you have it done

No - it is through Outlook under the file / new / new message menu to info@e-maps.co.uk.
This application may give a +37 bhp & + 60 nm boost to your mail exchange server. Last edited by Evil Diesel; 12-12-2007 at 04:46 AM.. Reason: 'coz I can't type!! |

Apparently they mail your map accross to their "secret BMW Contact" who then tweaks it and mails it back ?

Congrats on your new 'economy' map guys! Sorry to hear you did not get yours done Carlos. Hopefully it will not be long to you get it sorted.
You are now about to believe you have a new car every time you get into it and go WTF?!?!?! when you put your foot down. Tis a great feeling Thats a hell of a lot of mapped 335d's on the forum now!! It definitely must be catching

My understanding is that the cooling allows the ECU to take the map ? its sounds bizzare but originally when they tried to map the ECU it wouldn't take as the ambient temperature was too high, turned out sticking the ECU in a freezer bag in the freezer for an hour helped. I guess the freezer spray acts the same way but much quicker.
I'm sure someone has a more scentific explanation but the lower the temperature (to a point) the better the chances of the re-map working ? |

So there is a point that it could go very wrong, if you freeze it and then can't reprogram it.
Thanks for the answer guy's, It does look like Simon was using the ICP method of repregramming (because of the amount of pins on the header) but I am suprised it needs freezing you should just be able to flash it. mmmmmm intersting more research to do I think. |

An embarrasing conversation with the dealer will result. Simon was preparing himself to take it on the chin though - top bloke.
Oh well, all is well that ends well. |
