I was just linked this thread and the SLR belongs to me. Thank you for the props and to the naysayers, let me clear a few things up.

First in regards to the autobox. Inmo, it is absolutely fantastic. If you think it is a negative in a car like this, you are fooling yourself. The T/c system is very effective, allowing for fantastic repeatable launches with little to no wheelspin. The transmission has 6 different settings, 3 are for different shift styles: Manual (use paddles) Sport (starts in 1st gear, shifts at redline) and comfort, (starts in 2nd gear, and shift below redline). Also you have 3 different shift speeds to choose from. Also, the car has a transmision computer which limits torque in 1st and 2gear.

In comparison to the Porsche CGT. 2 different cars. If youve never driven a CGT, I will let you know it is absolutely horrific to drive in any sort of traffic. The clutch has no play whatsoever. Styling is personal, but inmo, the CGT looks like a Boxster. On track, ultimately, in the hands of a pro, Im certain the CGT is the faster the car. In the hands of a novice, the SLR inmo will go faster without killing yourself. In flat out acceleration, from a dead stop, no comparison. CGT cant get any traction in 1st and 2nd gear. SLR leaves it for dead. From a roll, we have raced repeatedly, 40-50-60mph to 160mph and the SLR and CGT are identical. Of course the CGT driver is hoping to bang every gear correctly, while the SLR is going in a/c comfort with the autobox doing the work. Just set SPORT MODE, click down to 2nd at say 50mph with the left paddle, and let the computer handle the upshifts.

In AZ, at approx a 3300 ft D/A and over 90 degrees outside, the SLR, with the a/c on, run as a full automatic, was running consitent 11.5-11.6's @129mph.With a set of drag radials, turning off the T/C and the SLR is a 10 sec car out the box without a doubt. In Nevada, at the 1 mile shootout, running it into a headwind, The SLR was 20mph faster than any of the Stock C6 Z06's. Only C6 Z06 that came close was one making 550rwhp, and the SLR still had him by 4-5mph at the end.

Some other real world facts on the car, bone stock it made 534rwhp and 489ft lbs of torque on 91 octane. The car makes over 400ft lbs of torque from 2500rpm. We just changed the pulley/Ecu and I/C pumps, and made 572rwhp, and 574ft lbs of torque on 91 octane pump.

SLR and SLR722, are NOT vastly different. Very slight changes between the 2, and when modded, in the end result both produce the same result.

If you are looking for the most exciting, hardest to drive Supercar, this isnt it. If you are looking for a car that in accel is an Enzo killer, can be driven anywhere, commands massive attention while being useable, then the SLR is for you. The Lp640 isnt even in the same realm. I am a Lambo guy at heart, owned a Murcielago myself, and the performance, braking, and build quality is miles appart. Sadly the Murci feels like a 20 year old car. Albeit, the Murci is a damn good looking car, but truth be told the Gallardo is a much better car.

And if getting full carbon fiber body and chassis isnt enough of what you get for your money, this will explain it better:
