VERY tight and I haven't tried to put things back in the dash yet, so not sure how well it will work. If I can get behind there I like the option of pulling it down (though it would be impossible to put it back up there if you ever remove the unit later for some reason).

Yes, with dynamic lines. I have only tested in the garage since the dash is still apart but seems very nice and I can't wait to use it for real.
You can pull the CIC out very easily. The front fascia panel just pulls off. Once you have that off you will see the screws (I think there are 4) that mount the CIC in place. Take those loose and the CIC will slide out forward. It helps to move the shifter all the way to the rear (if auto) to gain clearance for the CIC to slide back. Once out you will be able to see the video cable plugged into the CIC. If it is stuck and you can't pull it down you might be able to unplug this end and route it up to the camera module and plug it in to the video out port. Then you can use the new cable to connect the module to the CIC. Make sure the plugs are compatible but I think they are.

Thanks.

I was able to pull some extra out of the dash and route down next to the air vent (I'll be sending Patryk some pics) and got it all tucked away. Now I'm working on making all the wires nice and tidy (Mr OCD/anal-retentive here).

Where did you put the IR receiver and the mode button? I don't think I will need to use them much but don't want to pull the dash apart again. I thought about putting in the glovebox.

I have the IR receiver in the glovebox just dangling. I didn't hook up the mode button as it is redundant if you have the remote. You can also control the mode from the idrive controller.

I was reading your notes regarding Bimmer tech camera install. I'm trying to install the unit now but have the same problem as you did with the cic to cid cable. The cable is on the left side and as you said to short. Where did you install the multimedia unit the the cable reached? I think you said behind the air control unit. were you able to reinstall the control unit since it looks very tight. I told Bimmer tech they should add additional cable so you would could install the unit where there is room. Lots of cables that need room.

Yeah, after I did the install and write up I realized that I had had the video cable replaced previously which they routed differently.

I did place the interface behind the AC panel. It is tight but it fit fine. If Bimmertech did supply a second LVDS (video) cable it would probably make the install quite a bit simpler but those are probably pretty spendy.

Good luck!!
