AA is aware of n51 having the 3IM. I'm not sure if they actually do anything with it or not but they advertise that they have a "special" tune for n51s with 3IM

is this thread a joke right now... im confused if its serious

AA verifies your engine when you send them your VIN

AAs 3 stage tune smoothes out the mid range I believe.. this has been covered and theres some dynos so show the before/after

and the 15-20 hp? ... Ive seen many dynos and i dont know about all of that

By 15-20, I meant the difference between n51 and n52, if they have the same mods, and if 3IM was added to the n52

Okay that puts my mind at ease, yeah I honestly couldn't remember if I sent them my VIN or not, it was a while ago.... I know I sent them my cars original file (obviously) but I definitely didn't disclose the fact that I had an N51 because at the time I had no idea.

Oh and FYI I just checked my email thread with them, I never sent them my vin they only asked model and mods. Waiting for a response from them right now in regards to my tune

Not to thread jack here but would the difference in the compression ratio carry over to say the ESS supercharger. Because almost all mods that fit the n52 fit the n51 but I feel that something as intricate as a supercharger might not be applicable to the n51 if it were made for the n52.

Which engine is overrated? I guess you are referring to the n54/n55 here. Engines rate within 300-310hp range. Which falls well within the margin of error?

No, I was referring to the N51 and the N52. I find it curious that the N51 which has lower compression but has the 3IM has the exact same published horsepower as the N52 which has higher compression but a single stage intake manifold. Did BMW take the lower horsepower of the two engine configurations and publish that number as the stated horsepower for both engines? In other words, one of the two engines, which one I don't know, might be putting out a few more horsepower than the other in a stock configuration.

Ramon said the 3IM doesn't make a difference. And it'll be applicable to n51.

ESS has an in-house N51 128i for R&D

What would it take for an 325 3.0litre N53, which I'm assuming has the three stage intake, to get to a 330 level? Just a map?

I know the 3stage had no effects but was just wondering on the compression ratio, should we expect higher numbers from the n52s?
