I have a few from almost a year ago. The JB4 was so damn hard to log with it sucked! I don't have a laptop or a PC so it meant always borrowing a friends PC laptop. argg!

Cobb is so easy - you just push a button and it logs then you save to your computer.

Nope. Sold the JB4 here on the forum.

So you weren't running a backend flash. It's a night and day difference. Glad you're happy with the Cobb flash though. I'd like to see some before/after numbers from jb4/backend flash to a wedge/cobb tune.

I agree a backend flash is night and day different, I have personally tuned some of the quickest stacked BMW's out there, but flash tuning with COBB brings it to another level above and beyond what you can do with stacking.

Post moar. So it feels powerful, does anyone have numbers or dynos? I would love to feel power go up as you go higher in the RPMs as opposed to dropping after peak torque. Whats the science behind this tune/flash? Can it be done with a JB4?

I'm not sure if you can call it a science, more black magic than anything.

We do not tune with the JB4, this is strictly a custom flash tune using COBB. It's possible to tune your car and then reinstall the JB4 to use for meth control, but we don't have any customers doing this. If you're not aware, we hold the XI Quarter Mile World Record and the Stock Turbo WHP World Record. We recently trapped a stock turbo car at 121.7 mph @ full weight, 250 lb driver, with a half tank of fuel. That alone speaks for itself. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I'm going to get a few dyno pulls I promise! It will be a perfect comparison with JB4 to WP flash. Hopefully before Christmas!

The car still feels insane. I haven't adjusted to the bump in power yet lol. I've turned into a boy racer. I just pray that someone is going to try to do a pull with me.

How much boost does it run? And does it have that N/A feel where you get more power higher up in the RPMs? And how well does it reduce turbo lag? Mine currently gets up to 300TQ around 2500-3000. How much is it ?

How do you get NA feel with more power on top on our N54 platform where the stock turbos are just out of breath beyond 6k rpm? THere's no lag on this car.

The Wedge tune will maximize the characteristics of the car to a point where there just isn't more to give but within limits of the hardware of the motor. Want more power at top, get RB's or even a small ST setup.

Why? Clearly you have been very successful doing custom cobb flash tunes and the numbers speak for themselves, but how can hooking up the JB4 on top of the flash be a negative if you just use the JB4 for it's "features" (such as gauge hijacking) and let the flash control everything else?

Does the JB4 interfere in someway that you can't change with the settings? What is it about the JB4 that inhibits your custom flashes?

Help me understand your comment.

The Jb4 G5 Iso is no longer a passive device as confirmed by Terry, its active thus it does interfere with the operation of the Cobb being standalone. Don't we all know that the JB 4 is a device that manipulates the ECU load values.

My experience came from having a map done protuned with cobb alone and with that same map stacking jb4 on top of it. The difference?

With the protuned map I was experiencing throttle closures at times. But as soon as the jb 4 stacks on it, the throttle closure is eliminated probably due to stricter boost controls. But another problem was faced as well.

With the jb4 active the shifts were so noticeably slower compared to the cobb alone.

on my DCT equipped car, that translated into occasional slipping on WOT. Have recently met a friend whom converted from JB 4 to cobb standalone and without even telling him anything his first comment was why was the car shifting so much faster!

Went back to COBB standalone and the shifts were lightning quick with zero slipping as seen on the repeated logs that were done.

Thank you. The piggy today really is nothing more than boost control with a few bells and whistles. You need the back end flash to make the power levels and smooth performance we demand today on E85 blends. Unless you're running boost levels higher than 21 PSI, there is really no reason to use the piggy as we have better control of boost on the N54. We also have all the gauges you could possible want to look at. So hijacking is pointless. Data logging is also better as you can log the parameters that allow you to really tune your car. The piggy is still missing a lot of channels needed to tune the back end. It also won't allow you to log with the COBB so to me it's kinda pointless and obsolete unless you have a pending order for a single turbo.

I have to say the guys at Wedge (or rather Ken is who I have dealt with thus far) are spot on. I am new to BMW again after many years and very new to the n54 in particular. Ken has been great! Extremely patient answering all of my stupid questions without fail, and always getting back to me within an hour. That timeliness alone, as busy as they seem impresses and speaks volumes about their customer service and commitment.

I will be buying a tune from them this next month as soon as I get the holidays sorted out. I am not a huge fan of piggy back systems and I would implore anyone who is in the market for a flash tune, and stellar customer service give them a shout.
