Sounds good, drivethedeal are only offering 12.2% discount (including the £1000 finance at an indicated 9.9%) on a 330d Auto against MSRP list.

This implies that the margins are there to do better deals than 9.9% finance as you have, though as you say the fact that the car was in stock may have had a bearing on the deal.

Be interesting to see if I can try something similar on an Edition model, though the margins maybe tighter due to its £3100 of "free" options, which I suspect come out of the BMW GB pricing margins, and are not therefore supported by reductions in the factory prices to BMW GB (which remain the unchanged).

Drivethedeal discounts have gone back to zero or almost zero. Whats going on here - very confusing? This is putting me off buying new as I've no confidence that bigger discounts aren't just around the corner.

I also tested a (177) 320d M Sport and (new ED) 330d M Sport today. Both were autos, and initially I was impressed with the 320d which felt pretty much as quick as my E46 330d, if a bit unrefined.

I then had a go in the ED 330d M Sport Auto Touring with flappy paddles - any thoughts of buying a 320d soon vanished. What a car - it felt incredibly fast. I'm not sure whether a 335d could feel much quicker - do they really?

So 330d it is then - nearly new. Anyone selling? Must be E91 touring auto m sport, with nav/BT and pref pano roof.

Any pics of a Edition model Touring sport out yet? Curious to see what the 320si wheels look like; I'm not really a fan of this wheel style but the Touring might look OK with them.
See my garage for the wheels.

If I had the choice for new car i'd choose the M sport in carbon black.
Sounds like a good deal for anyone who's going to get a company car as the price add on is defo worth it. Would love to ditch the Tom Tom and have the biz nav and leather.

I've just bought a VW from drive the deal for my better half.

Their recent discounts have been for vehicles registered by the end March 08. Essentially reflecting a push in the earlier part of the year for early 08 plate sales.

Now that we are getting the end of Feb, a factory order is unlikely to be registered in time, so the brokers are waiting to see what offers can be extended etc ...

Be careful to check the list price quoted by Drive the Deal by the way. VW have their own discount offers at the moment and the broker tried to pass them off as their own.

Still .. even after the VW discount I still got about 11% off.

Which VW did you buy for your wife and what do you think of it?

Do you collect the car from a dealer or do they deliver to you?

Just a little 1.2 VW Polo . Not my choice, but it's what she wanted. To be fair she will only do a couple of thousand miles a year in it around town, so a bigger car / engine would be wasted and (unlike me) my wife has no interest in cars at all. Still - as with all small cars it'll probably be a bit of a laugh when you thrash it - AND it's got an ipod port.

When Drive the Deal accept your order on the website they do a bit of digging and ring you back.

The price I bought at expired end Mar 08, so they couldn't guarantee the extra £375 quid VW discount would still apply on a factory order. However, they found a dealer with an unregistered car in stock.

The dealer supplying the car calls you direct to arrange registration, sort the tax out and arrange delivery.

I ordered on Wednesday, dealer called Thursday and will call back next week to confirm delivery once he has a reg no. You don't pay anything to drive the deal and from the point the dealer contacts you it is as if you are a direct customer. The dealer even offered some finance packages, but we are buying cash!

The list price of the car is £10,300. VW's special offer drops it to just under £10k and drive the deals price is just under £9K.

Price is 'on the road' including dealers delivery to our door. Should get the car 1st wk in Mar 08.

So far .. it's a brilliant way to buy a car. I buy just about everything else on the net and a straightforward search of the brokers to find the cheapest is a lot more fun than going to the dealers and listening to hours of their bullsh*t

Thanks, it's very interesting to know how drive the deal works as I had no idea. Not your usual E90 post to chat about 1.2s but we had the Fabia in the 1.2 the 65bhp one rather the 55bhp version!

Anyway its a 3 cylinder job which has a bit of a diesel clatter but sounds like an offbeat 6 when under load! The chassis is pretty good on these cars and you can have fun giving it a good run out but most of the torque is 3 to 4,000 rpm.

Driving it makes you a better driver in the sence that you appreciate when you are stuck behind traffic uphill that it is not there fault. Plus you have to think when you drive quickly as you do not want to loose momentum.

The car does 45mpg and we had are fabia for 2.5 yrs and we paid £8200 brand new for it and got 5200 selling it back to the dealer with 24,000 miles and needing 2 front tyres.

I am sure your wife will love her new car.

It's just cheap motoring. Even after 3 years it'll still be worth £6.5K.

The polo is a 70ps (69hp) 3 cylinder engine. Half a car really

For short jorneys it just the job. Cheap, good on fuel and easy to park. If only I could live with one it would save me a lot of depreciation.
