It still sucks for someone waiting for their new car....especially if it's an M3! Sad....

Do cars headed for the west coast stop over in the east coast? Im expecting my ED car to be in Oxnard CA on Jan 17, so I'm not sure if my car would be on this ship. (I haven't found out what ship its on yet) - thanks

What really concerns me is that I cannot find any news about that. Somebody saw the damaged cars, took photos, and posted them. But how do we know it's only 300 or 400 cars? How can we be sure the rest of the cars that are going to SC are not all damaged? Who gave that number? Is it 300-400 cars in NY only, or is that the total number? Too bad they keep us uninformed. It's not that hard to walk around and scan the VINs on a few hundred cars that were damaged and update the BMWNA customer service or open a hot line.

I totally agree, except that I don't think it matters what model it is -- it's that person's car. I don't think any of the M3's were customer cars, just preliminary deliveries for demo, training, etc. And I would feel altogether differently if someone working on the dock or on the vessel were injured. Otherwise . . . just stuff. Not a world calamity.

These ships carry something like 3,000 cars. Worse things have happened:http://www.tricolorsalvage.com/pages/home.asp

I don't think cars headed for the west coast generally stop on the east coast. It takes long enough as it is to come out this way...that extra stop would probably make it a month-long voyage. As it is, mine took from 12/7/07 to 1/5/08 to get delivered to Port Hueneme.... |
