I'd put that down to bad editing, as when he was talking about 11.8s for the qtr mile he was in the lamborghini, not the rs4, you can spot it from the interior and the shape of the windows.

*blush* aww shucks!
Hey, those are two of my best qualities.
Thanks for linking my TGA audition video! I have a feeling that my video was rehearsed a little more than some, maybe even a little too rehearsed. You can see now why I've decided to keep the other 7 minutes of it to myself. That, and somewhere in the other 7 minutes, I have a feeling I mention Chris Bangle and seeing eye dogs in the same sentence ... Still, the E90/E91/E92/E93 would be possibly the only Bangle-era BMWs that don't make me physically ill just by looking at them. Furthermore, I would give my right testicle for an M3 - after all, my left one is spoken for. Cheers, Tone Last edited by tone76; 02-01-2008 at 04:39 PM.. Reason: tidied up a bit |

Good luck Tone
Like many, I have some trepidations about what an SBS version of Top Gear is going to be like. My fear is that they will put together a bunch of old monosyllabic racing drivers and make them jump around with lots of energy to compensate for an inate lack of wit. Personally, I hope they choose a group of passionate unknowns (like you) ... I'd like to see a bit of amateur unpredictability in the show.

if you get selected PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not let it turn into Top Gear Australia - V8 Supercars and Ford vs Holden special edition every week
and make sure you get Mark Webber on the show!!! and dont spend all your time doing challenges in the outback. nor in Tassie |

The part i'm interested to see, is where they'll do the power lap times with australian stig? Or should they call him a bogan and have him in some stubbies and a VB singlet with the racing helmet on, for a bit of local flavour.

Yeah V8 Supercars .... spit! They have ruined Australian motor racing. To protect these things from embarassment they have had to ban everything else, giving us a boring one class insular Bathurst.

Speaking of Aussie V8s. This is quite a nice presentation. At least the muscle cars he presents had to compete on an even and open playing field when they raced.

They might look like Fords and Holdens but "looks" is all they have in common with their road cousins. I love the series and it does have a place in Australian motorsports. There wouldn't be anything funny seeing a bunch of angre V8 Supercars flying across the top of the mountain at Bathurst only to encounter a Hyundia Excel doing 100klms an hour less than what they arre doing. There are other production car races that have different classes running at the same time. Sorry ... a bit off topic here.

my bet is that they're probably only auditioning for ONE unknown presenter.
there'll probably be 3 presenters like the UK Top Gear format, and the other 2 will probably either current or ex motoring journalists from Wheels or Car or whatever respectable motoring magazine there is out there. There is a chance of a smaller "celebrity" who knows his cars in there, but i highly doubt it. And the Stig's Australian cousin? they HAVE to make sure his mullet shows at the back of his helmet!!!! |

Yeah it's called the WPS Bathurst 12 hr Production car race and it's coming up in a weeks time. Look out for it, as the BMW 335i's are set to defend their crown.

Don't know, it might make it more interesting and test braking and handling a little more than a well rehearsed racing line lap after lap.

(On Topic) Looking at the website for the WPS race, it appears that last year, one of the drivers for car 72 was a Helen Stig!! |

This guy is smooth and I like the way his audition touches on something that burns me up Nanny state speed restrictions!

This is what worries me about Aussie Top Gear. That it will be more like a Tampex commercial than Grumpy Old Men:
