Really?
204bhp car vs 150bhp and the bmw goes 2 seconds faster on a clear track? Given the relative performance Id say that it's what I'd expect. Even says in his video he could have gone faster. In fact it shows how good 90's honda engineering was compared to bmws 15 years later. The CRX is a bag of laughs to drive but lack the sheer power needed on the Nurburgring. Exactly, which is why them being 2 seconds apart is what id expect. The CRX is probably closer to 500kgs lighter and id expect performance to be similar. Given the high speed nature of the track it would lose out on the straights but gain under braking and cornering.

in regards to power/weight - being lighter only helps acceleration, power is whats needed to get a higher speed, and there are plenty of occasion where 150bhp is not enough around the ring.
In the Integra I was hitting around 125mph on the back straight (when the car will easily achieve 140mph) but it just didnt have the power to go any faster up the hills. Given the torque of the diesel, it will defy its weight disadvantage too, as the bmw will have a better torque/wight ratio id imagine. |

Yes it's the Torque profile thinking about it. The Diesel should have a good wide quickly accessible power band. The Honda needing to keep the revs up to get it's peak power. I expected the Honda to be quicker.

On a track you are up the top of the band anyway. Power is king, always on a track. Look at F1 cars. They have puny torque!
