You have to be out of your mind to choose i8 over NSX. I would never cross-shop between those 2 cars (and obviously, there's a price difference).
I'd love to see "M" version of i8 though...not sure if that's going to happen in near future. |

Really? You'd buy used? 'Cause a new one is WAY more than $150K - even the Gallardo's factory invoice is $168K.

This is truly an apples to oranges or a piece of chocolate comparison
If you want speed and dynamics is go with the nsx. If you want more looks/attention and a feeling of being on the cutting edge it would have to be i8. For me I care more about having fun behind the wheel so id get the nsx. But who really knows. The nsx could drive like a 1980s caddy, so we have to wait for the first reviews

I think people with NSX will get the same or maybe more attention than people with I8. Personally i think i will pick the NSX over the I8. |

I'd ultimately choose the i8 by a small margin. Like the new NSX, but think the styling is conservative. Looks like a wanna be Ferrari or something.
The i8 is very futurey and really does look like a UFO. To make the kids I pass go all bug eyed and say Whoa! Is enough to flip me to the Bimmer.

Does anyone else think the i8 would be a whole lot more desirable without all the hybrid stuff, and with a really good 3.5 litre straight 6 instead? Or am I just a dinosaur forever pining after the original M1?

Neither, I'd get either a 911 Turbo or an Audi R8 or maybe a GTR. I know these are priced lower that the two cars you listed, but these would make me more happy.
No way I'm putting down $150K on an i8, I'd happily get an M3 instead. I like the old NSX, but not a fan of the new/upcoming one especially the grille design. Doesn't exude "class", which it should at that price point. Ok enough of dreaming, I'll go drive my 328 now |

Think it's safe to say there's not a lot of hybrid lovers on this forum.
We're just a bunch of petrol heads who consider a Prius or Leaf to mean purse.

"Between the i8 and the NSX, which one would you pick?"
Uhhh, I'd get a 5.0 foxbody and dump 100k in it and have the fastest car on the planet. Actually, I'd buy a z06, spend 10k in mods, and then I'd buy a 5.0 foxbody as a daily driver. Wait, what was the question again? The NSX will clearly be the better performer, so I'd definitely pick that over the i8. I also like the styling better than that of the i8 despite the mostly negative commentary about the nsx' design. I know that if an M version comes out of the i8, it'll be a very good performer, but let's not forget about the type-r. I think a twin turbo v6 has more room for improvement than an inline 3. I really hope a type-r version comes out. Until then, I'll take a Championship White NSX, please. |

http://blog.caranddriver.com/bmw-wor...ion-of-the-i8/ Slightly off topic but did anyone catch Top Gear last night? Jeremy Clarkson drove both the M3 and i8, loved both of them. Calling both of them superb and stunning. At the end he had to pick which car he'd rather have and initially he picked the i8. After the segment though he admitted that while the i8 is fantastic, he'd actually prefer the M3. He mentioned something I never knew, he said that owners of i8's are complaining of getting around 30 mpg, much less than what it's rated at and with a 7 gallon gas tank, at 30 mpg, you'd be filling up quite frequently. That plus the poor rear visibility and the virtually useless storage made him change his mind and prefer the M3. |

No way in hell I'd own an i8. The implications of supercar performance is way too poser; plus I have enough experience with vertical opening doors to despise them on any vehicle.
NSX.

New GT4 and save the extra ~$78k. If I had to choose b/t these two, NSX every day. Purpose built. Wish they would do away with the beak though.
