Just talk about all the technology in the car... I'm not familiar with the Taurus or A6 but there is some impressive tech in the e90s.

I have 4 kids. The oldest is 7 the youngest is 2. I put 3 car seats in the back a booster in the front. Car seat selection is key. Not all are created equal. Find a good narrow seat and you will be golden.

i think ppl exaggerate like crazy and over do it when they say "i need a bigger car because I'm having a kid blah blah let me get an SUV" come on!

In reality your fiancé aint giving birth to 2 elephants, you'll be good with the e90! i understand you having twins though, so I can't really talk much. I have a 3 month old myself, greatest thing that has ever happened to me. i still have my e92. car seat fits great. stroller in the back but thats about all the space i have lol

good luck on your decision

The difficulty with most sedans isn't the car seat, it's all of the support equipment needed. When my wife and I learned we were going to have a baby, we decided we were going to keep the 335 and figure out what was needed to make it work. He's only 4 days old, but so far the car is doing fine.

First, make a list of things you think you may need to bring with you on short, medium, and long trips. Then try fitting everything in the car. You may find there is too much stuff for medium or long trips. A roof rack and cargo bin is an easy way to increase storage space, and still have the flexibility to remove when not in use.

Buy Buy Baby will let you take their demo strollers to your car and test fit them. Decide which one works for you and fits in the car. Don't be concerned about price or brand name, focus on what works the best. Pay attention to baby seat width. Is it narrow enough to allow you to fold down half of the seat? This isn't as important for you with two on the way. Make sure the baby seat doesn't touch the back of the front seats, and see how easy it is to remove from the base. Throw a weight in the seat to simulate the weight of the baby and have your wife try to remove it. Legroom isn't a problem in the E90 for babies

In our case, I walked in and immediately fell in love with a Recaro red and black baby seat and stroller. We began playing with everything in the store, and I soon realized that while the Recaro was beautiful, the baby seat wouldn't work with the stroller, and the stroller was very poorly designed compared to the others. We ended up going with a Graco click connect combo, which just barely fits in the trunk, and has tons of different configurations to grow with the baby. (I will be buying the Recaro booster seat once he outgrows his current one )

As far as safety is concerned, I feel much safer in a 335 than I would in an inferior sedan, much less an SUV. The object of the game is to AVOID the accident, which is much easier in a performance sedan than it is in an SUV. That being said, the 335 comes with all the standard safety equipment, so your babies will be protected in the event of an accident.

I don't understand why the N54 has a reputation as an unreliable car. If you take care of your car, it will take care of you. Follow a maintenance plan (I do not suggest using the standard BMW schedule, Mike Miller has a nice one, and there are plenty of threads on that subject), perform all the preventative maintenance (don't wait for your serpentine belt, water pump, oil gaskets, etc to break, change them before they do) and the car will be fine. Just like every other car, there is a chance something unexpected will happen, but it is the exception, not the norm. If you're concerned with the HPFP, get a JB4 and run some logs every now and then to monitor its health. Seriously, this works. I noticed my LPFP was on the way out because my pressure was dropping on WOT runs. How's THAT for a reason to tune your car Of course, depending on your debating skills, that logic can also be used for a BBK, coilovers, etc.

Another mod you may want to consider if yours isn't equipped with it is the manual/automatic rear sunshade. The DIY is fairly easy, and it will keep your children from baking like potatoes in the rear-facing phase. The side window sunshade mod is much more expensive, so I would suggest either aftermarket or oem manual shades.

I would also suggest practicing smooth driving. Babies aren't a fan of pulling heavy G's, so your driving will need to be smooth. This doesn't mean slow. Leave yourself more stopping distance, scan farther ahead, practice predicting traffic changes.

Hope this helps, and don't forget to enjoy yourself. Being a parent doesn't need to mean a dull, monotonous life.

Though my e90 gets cramped with my wife and 2 boys in car seats it works. A 5 series would be better or an SUV but nonetheless the e90 still works fine.

Are there any places that let you test while will fit in your car? It's probably time we find two of them.

Fiancee with two e's is a girl and one e is guy, just FYI. I've only recently learned this & with two at the same time, the twin stroller & other baby accessories are the problem. Not the car seats really.

Thank you, this has been the most helpful post thus far & what I was hoping to hear/read!

Babies have a ton of accessories that come with them & they need to fit in not only her car but my car as well which doesn't sound so bad until you realize we will be moving them from car to car often, that's where the problems occur.

Thank you for the stroller tip, that's been the hardest thing so far. I'll defiantly check out the strollers there!

When it comes to safety & reliability I'm not concerned, but that's not the problem. I've taken some defensive driver courses in the past as well as a stunt driving seminar with some friends so I'm competent in my driving abilities with or without my precious cargo in the back. The reliability, she just loves to throw in the HPFP & my recent water pump in my face saying I could end up stranded with the children a long ways from home & her being a nurse, if she's working then it's a 12-16 hour shift, but if it does happen then the shades would defiantly help

And thank you once again on the parental advice, my wife said with twins she's going to be taking care of three kids but the children will always come first.

Could not have said it better myself . "Buy a car seat to fit your car or buy a car to fit your car seat." We used buy buy baby to check clearances. I drove with two babies in the rear of my e92 coupe for 2 years before I decided to buy an x3 due to my back problems of lifting the car seat out at a weird angle. An E90 is easier to manage with the in and out of car seats. The center seat could be used for the diaper bag. And it really doesn't matter what vehicle you have because the wife always seems to overpack. You get an x3 or x5 , expect more junk!

Congrats on the babies! Best of luck as well. Two at once is going to be tough!

Get your wife an SUV or (cringe) a minivan... hahaha

But seriously, either of those two will help a lot space-wise with all the junk babies need to carry around early on in life. Whoever is driving the kids can drive that car, and then the other can take the 335. best of luck

Thank you, hopefully we will never have to result to a :shudders: minivan.
Her 5er will be the preferred baby transporter, but at least now I know the e90 can work.
