I guess people are missing the whole thing here. I know they make good stuff was mostly just wondering why nobody is running it. And its pretty obvious I see this now its because of pricing....
I dont know why you guys have to put it the way that I dont know anything about the product. I had a simple question and got a bunch of nonsense answers from some people. I appreciate the help of the people that actually did respond to my questions. |

I believe this was due to the lower cell count cats having less efficiency, especially over extended time.

Just had the COBB race catted downpipes installed. I got them because my wastegate rattling was unbearable with cattless. These muffle the rattling by I'd say 90% and provide 95% of the power of cattless dp's. Fitment was good... They're sourced from cp-e, so they have the same fitment as the cp-e pipes.

The Cobb DP routing and the CP-e are completely different, not sure where you're getting your info from.
There's also logs from a catted AR DP vs a non catted posted a few years back and there was a 15hp difference. Catted downpipes don't make nearly as much power and they don't do a good enough job at cleaning up emissions on this platform which is why they aren't popular. |

Go BMS. Best out there. Fit perfect and looks amazing. Carefull some others might have fitment issues.

As for the power difference, whatever, 3-5hp difference vs 15hp difference... bottom line is you'll lose maybe 3% HP as a trade for less noise, smell, and in my case, wastegate rattle. It's up to the OP to decide how much each of those things are worth to him and decide what is best for him. I'd give up 30hp to muffle that damn wastegate rattle If you do choose to go for a catted dp, my COBB DP's worked out very well and I'm extremely happy with them (to answer the OP's original question). If you choose to go for catless, I've definitely heard a lot of great things about VRSF, and you can't beat the price. I personally had AR Design DP's and they had perfect fitment... even used ones are fine (they're quite expensive, relatively)... it's just a freaking pipe haha. Most important thing is to find a cattless DP with good fitment.

I know the cP-e DPs had a revision at some point. I was considering them and would've bought them instead of the Cobbs if I ran across their obscurely placed Christmas sale sooner. Both have cast 3" bellmouths. cP-e's are 2.5" piping and coated, Cobb is 3" and uncoated. The bellmouths on both are extremely similar except for logos, perhaps they are cast at the same foundry and that's where they share sourcing? Either way, if I didn't care about having cats, I would've just ordered VRSF for 1/3 the price and been done with it.
As far as emissions go, pretty sure any race catted DPs will throw codes on N54, so you'll want a tune that kills the cat efficiency codes. There is more than one reason someone might not pass emissions though. If your local emissions doesn't allow for 1 system not ready or the cat system must be ready, you'll need a DP fix to pass. I haven't had to do a sniffer test personally, but I'd fully expect them to pass if needed. |
