Good point actually. I didn't really think about that.

It doesn't matter how many rca outputs the headunit has, but I would get something with 4 volt outputs.

I chose a much more basic setup.
Started with Stock head unit, Jehnert tweets/mids/doorboards with a Helix Match pp82DSP.

I'll likely be ordering a Dynavin N6 headunit in another month or two, but that will likely be the end of my upgrades.

(Don't have much desire to be up there in the near competition level audio myself)

I started pretty basic, just speakers in stock location and amp. Now it feels like every few months I want something new lol.

No, the speakers and the pods themselves get bolted on to the lower portion of the doors. Yes, that means you'd be cutting into the lower portion of the doors themselves. Only minus for me was losing the map pockets, though I negated some of that by retrofitting the seat back nets (my 2011 LCI never came with them due to rampant cost cutting) and also installed the black netting along the transmission tunnel that I think the Z3's came with.

The one I'm going to get made is all custom. I just need to measure out how big it has to be. Madisound has the measurements posted for the speakers I'm getting.

When you get that built put up picture but my question was
about the Jehnert panel installation.
One thing about the Jehnert panels are they look clean.
What speakers are you getting ?

2nd link is no good I determined they were swedish speakers

2nd link is no good I determined they were swedish speakers
as there website is in Kroners.
Actually a lot of the stuff here is Euro brands none of the standard
Stuff like Alpine or Pioneer works in these cars because of the shallow fit.
I used to read absolute sound magazine and I know there is a lot of
boutique speakers out there , but for car speakers not so much.
The thing is I don't see how you can get a thick speaker in a car door
and make it look right or at all with the a window mechanism in there to.

think about it for a second...how would you mount the doorboards and then mount the speakers to it when your pockets are in the way? of course they have to be cut out to accommodate the speakers.

Yep, you'll have to cut into the map holders and through into the door panel itself so that the speakers can breath. You're almost using the whole door panel as a big enclosure.

They do give you a guide as to where/what to cut.
Here's a web link for it: jehnert door board install guide

Weird, 2nd link works for me. Speakers are made in Denmark. I may just have to sacrifice the look for the sound. I do want the speakers angled, so the passenger side will be angled up towards the driver side headrest and the driver side speaker will be angled up towards the passenger seat headrest. I know I'm completely giving up the stock look.

Yes, never heard the sound stage of our cars without the center but with my center set up I get a very high stage. Vocals are just above eye level for me.

I guess I can just turn off my center and check but I'm to lazy to time align it again.

The right DSP and time alignment does wonders.

Same effect here, centered vocals, just at about eye level, but no center speaker here at all.

I also get centered vocals for my passenger seat.
