this is great info. but like any other insurance company, i have to ask, do you have to hassel for the new tire/rim or are they very resonable, responsive, and stick behind their word and service?

Well, when I got my wheel replaced last week, my SA told me that there was a crack in the wheel. Although, it wasn't leaking, he spoke to them and had them replace it anyway. Their policy usually is that, if it's not leaking air, then they will not replace it. I guess it's also because my SA has good relations with them. I guess you can say it's a YMMV.

My CA (Ryan/Alpine6spd @ Flemington) told me the exact same thing when I purchased the insurance. I was really interested in aftermarket wheels at the time, so it was a question I asked. As it turns out I really like the sport wheels and doubt I'll switch, but considering all the potholes I've already smashed into on the crappy roads in my area I'm happy with the purchase.

so if i were to have csl reps, and it cracked, how would the insurance cover me? would they give me a paycheck or would they order a new csl rep from jlevi or wherever i got it from lol? this is what bothers me. if i had a more popular brand like bbs i guess they can get me a new rim but what about reps like velocity, exclusive, etc?

Wide world of cars in spring valley is charging 950.00 5 years, and this is not negotiable. I do not know if it's worth it. I put only about 9000 miles a year
and do most of my driviing on good roads. I also checked with a local tire shop and they said they could plug the tire from the inside if i get a flat. This shop repairs the town's police cars, They are fitted with rft. With that said i feel comfortabe they will do i good job on my tires if i need there services.

I'll be picking up my E92 328xi by next week and I'm looking into the tire insurance. It seems like you have good experiences with Twinkidneygrill.com, but how does the claim process work? Get authorization from them then purchase/repair? How long does it take to get reimbursed?

Thanks!

I just had to take advantage of the Safeguard insurance. Pothole bent my rear passenger rim and bubbled the tire. Only issue is that Safeguard didn't cover 100% of the cost. Total cost was $900+, the SA did all the talking to them and they agreed to pay $800+. Apparently the guy he talked to was also asking why they couldn't fix the rim, which the SA told him was crazy. I need to call and get my own explanation. I'll update when I get some more info about why it isn't "reasonable" for them to reimburse list price for BMW original equipment. Even so, the insurance did just pay for itself and more.

Does anyone know what happened to twinkidneygrill.com? I tried to find them and all I got was "website cancelled"?

e90fanatic swapped out too many wheels and tires and ran them out of business?

My guess is they're changing web hosts....hope they come back! I was planning on getting the tire/wheel insurance from them as well!

The twinkidneygrill.com website is back up.

I also e-mailed them -- no response, yet.

I'm interested in who *underwrites* the wheel and tire coverage. And their financial ratings. If these were insurance companies, I don't think I'd have trouble getting this information.

BTW, I called the Safe-Guard people today too, and couldn't get an answer. What they're telling about the coverage also differs from what the BMW dealer tells me.

Since the Official New Jersey State Symbol is getting to be the unfilled pothole....

I got a letter in the mail from the actual insurer that Safeguard uses. I basically had to submit a full application to them, re-describing everything on the Safeguard claim form and including the original sales receipt and copies of my warranty policy and a copy of my car sales invoice. I'm kind of annoyed that no one mentioned that I'd have to jump through this additional hoop. We'll see what happens.
