We no longer sell the 5" intercooler you have and have since upgraded to a stepped design.

When customers purchase intercoolers I like to ask them how they plan on using the car and what they're goals are. While the 5" non-stepped intercooler we used to sell is a great upgrade over stock, there's just not enough volume in a 5" core to provide low intake temps on a FBO car doing multiple gear pulls.

We generally recommend the 7" intercooler in most cases, we have cars ranging from 450whp to 830whp putting the 7" to work without breaking a sweat. It works well whether you're going FBO, upgraded twins or single turbo. If you're not looking to squeeze out every last HP out of your setup or rarely perform multiple gear pulls and don't have an interest in trimming the shroud, the 5" stepped is a great alternative.
Well around the time I bought my 5in I did a lot of research and most people were very happy with their 5in as I heard no complaints. Some people even told me that stock twins are perfect for the 5in and that the 7in is recommended for bigger upgraded turbos.

Sometimes my FMIC works well esp when the weather isn't as hot. I get 4-7 degree rises. The most I've gotten was 15 degree rises but average is about 10. This is a major improvement over stock where I was getting 40 degree rises sometimes lol

I know I'm getting better airflow compared to the stock IC too, and I'm using e85 so hopefully that helps with the cooling

OK well just so we are on the same page, your original past said that the difference is "tiny" between $300 intercoolers and $1000 intercoolers yet you don't recommend the $300. If that difference is so tiny, then why would you advertise it as a "tiny" difference, if the difference seems to be enough to not recommend it?

I just want people to be aware that those tiny details in a remark can really mislead people into thinking a ebay intercooler is the same as something like an Evolution Racewerks Intercooler, for example.

I'm curious as to how you got to these conclusions. I know the AMS is a great intercooler and all, but doubt if flows the most compared to the bigger 7 inch fmic's.

lol sorry mike i misread ER and evolution racewerks. I was like I know ER doesn't have DP but what about evolution racewerks

Tiago whats the difference between the 5 inch non stepped and the stepped version of your intercooler? and i won't be squeezing every inch of power probably just FBO minus the exhaust and thats all.

The difference between 300 ebay and 900 er would not be felt over a 3rd gear pull.
If you do 1\4 mile or race your car i would recomend a higher density fin pack.

The point im making is about vrsf being proven intercooler and there is no reason to pay double for an er intercooler.

Have you ever logged a third gear pull ?
Compare your IAT with a good intercooler vs an ebay one and you will see a big difference during third gear pull

In 90f ambient temperature, rbs pump fuel 17psi ebay rise 15-20f. Ambient thermal management always goes down few f then never rises over a 3rd gear pull.

Cant feel the difference when I changed intercoolers.

My Evolution Racewerks keeps the IAT within couple degrees during a 3rd gear pull (most of the time it does not even rise at all) ... ETS FMIC used to keep it withing 5 degrees
