I've made up my mine to go for Perfection one more time as a refresher on August 1. I had so much fun when I did it last year and if I do better this time, I may go for Fascination next year. Need to call them tomorrow to get my prerequisite code (not on my completion certificate).

Anybody else coming that day??? Your M Coupes are waiting!!!

As long as BMW lets you!!

These are the only courses available in Canada so naturally there are lot of out-of-town participants. When I did Advanced II last I was teamed up with a guy who flew in from Montreal (the guy with glasses and goatee in the photo).

Hey - just found the Canada boards (sweet) glad to see there's some presence from the GTA!

So I don't have my Bimmer yet - waiting till spring to dump my current car (if it lasts that long) and I'm leaning towards a 335 coupe at this point. I did Advanced II two years ago - was trying to do Perfection last year but didn't have the time.

Is there a general consensus as to when people are thinking about going for Perfection? If so, let me know and I'll try to sign up that day to meet some fellow people on the boards!

Looked at this....its funny, one of my friends just sent me a link to the Ariel Atom racing school - they're using a track in Belleville. It looks pretty good too - now I'm undecided. There's definitely a premium BMW is charging for their courses, and Ariel is undercutting it by $100, plus, I think there might be more driving experience with Ariel.

Anyone here done this?

http://www.arielatomexperience.com/

What do you guys think?

Looks like the Ariel Atom racing school is a RACING SCHOOL, focus mainly on track racing training in a pseudo race car. BMW Driver Training is for DRIVER TRAINING, focus on techniques required to deal with everyday realistic road emergency situations such as emergency braking, emergency lane change, skid control and recovery, and the training is done in a production 335i sedan.

Yes, the BMW Fascination course is for track training but it is for a few individuals each year who have done all the basics and feel confident enough to tackle the track in an off-the-shelf M car.

So pick what you think suits you the best.

Good points, to be sure. Ultimately, I agree with you, though as you pointed out, the BMW Driver training kind of melds into racing experience as you move upwards. Perfection as I see it is kind of the bridge course.

Maybe if my bonus is enough I can do both

Here! You can see the skidpad in the close-up view. You can also see the 10 training vehicles - 5 autos in a row and 5 manuals in another row. The rest are instructor's cars. As of last summer the blue tent is no longer there, it's been moved into the hanger. On the side of the skidpad is the tanker truck that wets down the track to make you skid at a lower speed. The next two photos are views from the ground. The last photos shows the fleet of M Coupes used in the autocrossing session at the end of the day in Perfection.

Which program is the one where you can drive on MOSPORT GP course? I thought it was also a BMW school event, had a few friends who went last year, and I missed out

The GP one you are referring to (I believe) is the "Fascination" events which take place in Montreal.

I was always uncertain whether Perfection used M coupes in the entire course, or just at the end for the autocross - you'll notice the description online is most silent about this. But based on the above pics, looks like its 335's for the course and just the M coupe for the autocross - too bad!

In Perfection they use 335i's for the course and M Coupes for autocross.

Perfection is a much intensified version of Advance II - it is still aiming at developing techniques to deal with everyday emergency situations that drivers can encounter on the road. It is not a race training course and the autocross racing is straightly for fun at the end of the day, much like the slalom racing at the end of Advanced II. Given that, it makes more sense to do the formal part of the traning in an everyday road car.

Fascination is for track training, and I believe the entire session is done in M cars.
