I am surprised it is a Wallenius. I have only seen this line go to the east coast, never the west. BMW/Mercedes usually ships Wallenius to the east coast and NYK Lines to the west coast. Hmmm. Wallenius actually has tracking on their web site somewhere. NYK Line doesn't have tracking, so west coast ship trackers are at a disadvantage.

Learn something new everyday. I haven't tracked since last summer, so this could be new, too.
This could be good news for me. Maybe my car's ship will be WW on this passage. I don't know how good it is, but they have tracking on their web site somewhere. I think you just have to type in your VIN. |

http://www.my330i.com/tracking.php shows two cars picked up in Az within 3 days of making the port... However, looking at http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SBLI, and the almost direct headwind the entire trip, and extrapolating out a couple days' travel, I'm not seeing the Aida make its Georgia stop on time within 2 days. So, we're probably looking at March 1-3 for delivery ![]() |

Hrm...that trajectory is looking a bit low for a GA port entry. I've been expecting it to make a gradual right turn in the last couple days - latest tracking shows it running further south. Looks like its almost splitting the difference between panama and georgia atm...
But scheduling still shows a GA stop, so I guess we'll see turning soon. It'd be too much to hope for it skipping a stop so we get our cars faster. |

Just a thought. . . if you look at her position on the sailwx map, there is a tiny island that she will need to (now) round before turning inland, so maybe she has to go a little further before turning. She's definitely not making it to GA today. It would be good for you guys if they changed her schedule and she's going straight to the Panama Canal.
I am watching the Savannah Overview AIS radar. There is nothing to report there. I am also watching the Panama Canal radar for several "BMW" ships there. |

It's been delayed. Here's the latest WWL schedule:
![]() The original ETA was Feb 23. Talking about an exercise in patience. |

Here's a current AIS radar map of Cristobal Anchorages. This is the beginning part of the Panama Canal on the Atlantic side. The port of Manzanillo is just inside that inner bay on the right, where the Maersk Darmstadt and MOL Explorer are currently located. So, this stop won't take Aida too off course, as is with her Georgia stop.
Ships oftentimes sit in the Cristobal Bay as they await their turn to go through the PanCanal anyways. That is why you see so many yellow arrows. Yellow arrows mean their engines are on, but they are moving less than 5 knots. If the arrow is red, that means their engines are off. Green means they are moving more than 5 knots. |

Going backwards?
It appears the ship is going backwards! This must be a mistake, right?

Wow! Maybe somebody reported the wrong coordinates. I don't think sailwx is radar, but I don't know for sure. If the data comes from volunteer "Observing Ships" that sounds like a verbal report. The sailwx site shows this:
"Ship weather reports and track maps are based on data reported via the World Meteorological Organization's Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS)" |

You must be right. The next update to the web site will probably have the right coordinates.
This is off topic but of interest to most enthusiasts.... I noticed you have a SL63 on order. Did you drive one before ordering it? If so, what's it like. It must be fantastic. |

well, it updated its position again, and is appropriately closer to GA.
looks like a bad entry - typo probably. My wife told me its because they dropped my car in the ocean and had to go back for it. Guess that means no V-Day gift for her ![]() |

Where did you go to get the updated position? I just checked sailx and it looks the same as it did. Thanks. UPDATED: sailx now shows the updated position.
I like your wife's sense of humor. We could use more of that as we all wait impatiently. Last edited by demosthenes; 02-13-2008 at 07:45 PM.. |

That red box in this AIS graphic is "Manzanillo Overview." It is still along the way and won't take Aida too far off course. |
