Ok. But my DIY skill is in the negative category. I guess I'll ask for help from e90post. A beer and some food might be involved after the install.

you don't need much mechanical skill. a flathead screwdriver (or better, a 6mm socket) for the clamps, a 10mm socket to remove the airbox, and a knife to cut a little nub off the TB housing.

Exactly what he said. It's super easy. 3 tools required. 10 easy steps.

0. Get beer > open beer > sip beer.
1. Undo 2 10mm bolts holding the air box in place.
2. Unclip wire from MAF (little sensor wire on back side of air box).
3. Unclip airbox at front from intake tube.
3a. Sip beer.
4. Unscrew the 2 hose clamps on the rear intake tube (the part you're replacing) behind the air box. You can use long flat blade screwdriver or 6mm ratchet.
5. Remove air box (you'll need to use some force here to get the rear intake tube off the air box. Set the air box aside.
5a. Sip beer.
6. Remove stock rear intake tube from where it connects to the intake manifold.
7. Take the hose clamps and expand them all the way so they fit over the new tube, work them onto the ends slightly.
8. Using a utility knife, cut small alignment tab off of the top of the connection on the intake manifold.
8a. Sip beer.
8. Connect Rev Motoring intake tube to intake manifold.
9. Install air box (DON'T FORGET TO CLIP THE MAF SENSOR WIRE BACK ON)
10. Position the hose clamps over the area where the new intake hose overlaps with the port on the air box and intake manifold, tighten the hose clamps once you ensure the hose is aligned and fit on the air box and manifold.
11. Finish beer.

Got it in the mail last night (6 ply). This sucker is heavy (it feels like it's over a pound). Will install it probably later today.

So I installed mine yesterday. Car seems to rev up a bit faster ( maybe placebo effect). However, I'm concerned if that this thing might fall off (un clip) due to engine movement. Mine doesn't sit flush. I tightened it, but since engine shifts back and forth under load, I'm concerned if the hose will have enough give.

Def keeping the original part handy and screwdriver in the car for just in case.

So... put about 100 miles since I installed it. My butt-o-meter tells me that the engine revs faster and it feels ever so slightly stronger in-between 3 and 5.5k. Also, intake noise seems to be quieter at cruising and louder than before at WOT above 4.5k rpm. So far hose didn't unclip, but will keep monitoring it.

Overall, seems worth $$$ spent.

Might as well. Doesn't do much, if anything (besides get rid of that giant silencer), but I'm not losing sleep over those $60.

Mine's been in for a month and a half. Superb fitment, a little more aggressive / loud intake sound, and the (small) power gains are documented.

Does it matter?

My approach has been to accept that our N52s have limited power options. After doing the basics like DISA/tune/headers, it's all about paying attention to the little details. I want to create an optimized operating environment for this motor. A RM silicon hose here, a Dinan-style ram intake there, attention to basic thermodynamics / heat management, weight management, etc. Each may be underwhelming by itself, but taken as a whole they improve the drive.

In my experience this small mod is an easy-peasy no-brainer. Do it.

I ordered one today when I ordered a euro air box, which was 212 on fcpeuro. I'm hoping I can get it to stay on without shaving off the little nub as I'm not a big fan of making permanent changes. I could by another if need be but why bother spending the cash.

It will probably fit but you'll be risking an air leak around the nub. I wouldn't worry about cutting the nub. It's only there to help locate the stock intake tube.

Prior to install I shared your concern about cutting the fitting pin. After install I realized my concern was unfounded. Takes less than 5 sec. Seriously. Use a razor, make one cut, done.

Congrats on the Euro air box. Great price, larger volume than NA, and easier access to the filter.

Just bought this on Amazon, the 6 ply version. I already have the AA tune, so I figured wth, why not. I'm most interested in an increase in sound. I'd pay $60 for that! Lol

This is from 3 years ago, I wouldn't get my hopes up about it being that price still or a live link...
