He sounds more helpful than most, but still what a thief! I understand they have margins to protect but warranty should be wait till it breaks and bring it to us! Grinds my gears.
When shelling out for the purchase of the car and the extended warranty, they don't say wait till we're bankrupt then pay us do they!!! |

Well the plot once again thickens, after a call to BMW warranty yesterday (after numerous before). They advise I have a cool down period that I cant claim for until the 12/05/2015.... I queried this every call prior and was told there wasn't one.
This then put me in the position the car needs to be dealt with by the dealer who sold me it. He had already agreed to fix the gearbox leak which is from the rear seal @ £420. He asked me to get a cost from my Indie for the turbo's as the £3,000 is excessive. I called my Indie who said the Turbo's replaced would be £2,000 (which is slightly better). Also considering i have another warranty which should cover them so will contribute to the cost of replacing them to the total of £1,000. So as it is now my car needs a gearbox leak repairing an engine leak repair and 2 new turbo's. I'm going to query with the dealer if he will be happy to do it all at once which should save a lot on labour as the parts (excluding turbo's) are not too expensive its the labour which does it. So ill keep you posted on how I get on. by the way none of the above can be attributed to the idle which is usually hpfp and coils/injectors. All when tested wouldn't fail the test so cant be classed as faulty but i imagine these may go soon too. The joys of being a 335i owner but if I'm honest.... i wouldn't want any other car. |

Thought id fire an update here, its been a while since ive had an update and for good reason...
I took my vehicle back to the dealer following a gearbox seal repair as it needed the waste gate problem fixing and also a rocker seal leak, also had 2 fault codes. Following this the dealer has had my car for 4 weeks and still no date for its return (owned the car 8 weeks and 5 of them its been in garages)... needless to say I'm having no luck at all with this car. Im currently in talks with the finance company to either get the car returned repaired or wind up the deal. Its sad really because all i want is my 335i, so lesson here is when you buy a 335i be careful who you guy it from as it can ruin the experience of having one. |

Sounds like you have many issues...
I had the limp mode/engine management on mine occasionally and it was a VANOS solenoid that needed replacement. This is usually pretty clear from the codes, so probably not relevant in your case if they haven't already done it.

Finally got her back, both turbos were placed with new ones from BMW, i just need to find out why i have the occasional engine wobble and high idle on occasion, i say high but its only 800rpm or so up from the normal 600.
The turbos have brought back the performance it pulls really hard now, not that i use the power too much anymore, still stand by the fact there isn't much better on the road for me, 335i is a real machine. |

I havent found a place that does a blast yet but i imagine it would cost about £800 for a blast as from what ive read its a 2 day job.
One thing i can say is since my turbos were replaced my car defo has a big boost in power. With a blast i imagine it will run alot better. I did notice something though if im manual mode the car sometimes will skip second and jump to third on upshift, only does it on hard acceleration in manual though but ive never read anything which would cause that. |

Theres a few blasting compnaies in the midlands, they seem to charge around £3-£400 depending on where you go. I'd prefer to spend the day doing the DIY!
![]() As for the skipping gear, mine has never done that! When i throw it over in to manual mode, i can plant it and it holds right up till i change gear in every gear :/. |

£300-400 doesnt sound too bad really, i expected more £800 mark.
Yeah the gear thing is a weird one, cant seem to find anything about it online either, as i say its not a big deal as i rarely use manual mode anyway. |

Well new update and finally good news.
The limp mode seems to have been caused by the vanos solenoid, BMW took them out cleaned them and swapped them and that seems to have cured that problem. The idle and cranks have gone after the pre cat 02 sensor was replaced by warranty, so all in all ive had 2 new turbos, 1 gearbox leak, vanos clean/swap and o2 sensor but after all that i think i finally have the 335i i always wanted. Its left me paranoid to every squeek and rattle but overall it seems to be running right. need a service next month for brake fluid and filters, think im going to swap spark plugs also. Has anyone tried that new terraclean to get rid of the carbon build up? i mean for £80ish it doesnt seem bad |
