Garage List
We've sold hundreds of sets in the past few years and have never had one issue in terms of safety or reliability. They're definitely safe

Do you work at OPs tire shop, by chance
it's very hard to fit a lip on anything 10mm and smaller, so a lot of those (especially cheap brands) are not hub centric

after 12mm basically every brand has enough lip to maintain hub support

of course, after a thousand games of telephone, people come up with some interesting stories

I just bought 12mm for the front and 15mm for the rear. The only reason I even thought about spacers was after a brake job the front rims rubbed the caliper. Of course these are after market rims. I bought Beyern rims because I thought they made BMW rims. I guess I was wrong. Now for my two cents. I have done a lot of reading the past few days and have read numerous places that if you mess with the front you need to also mess with the rear due to oversteer/understeer. Why would mm's make such a difference. Is this correct or just more BS? Also, should I worry about the groove in the rim that the caliper made?

Dude, seriously, search around. It would literally take 10 seconds worth of googling to prove yourself wrong. 99% of 10mm spacers come w/ hub centric lips. The only ones that don't are specifically made to be flat:
http://www.rogueengineering.com/rogue/WH/WSPACER.html

The only time someone would run into issues with 10mm spacers that have a hub centric lip are those that have a taller than typical front hub (as addressed in the link above).

But you are correct. It's obviously physically impossible to fit a hub centric lip on a spacer that is smaller than 10mm given that there isn't enough thickness there to allow that to happen. That's why God created hub extenders; for the front of RWD cars, at least.
