I went up to Sytner to try/buy an E46 M3. It was the biggest disappointment of a car i've ever driven, so i bought the Tractor, and once it got 10k under its tyres, it got quicker.

Its no M car, But its got the ability to amuse.

The M3 doesn't have a roadcar engine.

OliH, I`ve bought the kit from CAA but I`m getting if fitted at Simpsons. Reliability should be fine, people have been using FI on the S54 for a while now with no reported problems, the best thing about the supercharger is that boost is relative to revs, so will increase as the revs increase (unlike a Turbo that comes on "song") Max boost=max revs, which suits the S54 even more and has got to be kinder to the running gear.

The point was merely academic - if the max RPM dont increase then the power increase is entirely due to a torque increase so caring about torque is good (but it's not the way to measure the performance potential of an engine I agree).

Looked at some of the E46 M3 dyno graphs ESS have on their site, looks like your charger is producing some boost as low as 2000rpm and probably hits max pressure around 5000 and holds it on the relief valve from there to the redline - looks nice.

Thanks for the input Dave, I don`t really know a lot about it other than the second hand info I`ve read or been told buy the dealers. The driveability seems a little better than stock as the car doesn`t get "bogged down" so much in higher gears at low speed and the power curve is identical to stock just with higher values. A stock M3 develops max torque at 5.5K rpm, with the charger that figure is bettered at just below 3K rpm and remains above it for the rest of the rev range. Its running relatively low boost at 5 psi and I`m told the charger itself is good for 620 ish Hp, so plenty of room for improvement if I get bored and want to start playing with some of the internals as well.

I don`t want to Jinx it but it should be here in about 2 weeks or so (fingers crossed customs don`t decide its a weapon of mass destruction or anything)

Fitting takes a day and they`ll want to do 100 miles or so in it, to run in the charger and make sure everythings right. I`m off to the `ring on the 12th April so want it done for then.

Cost wise Olli £3750 for kit £50 an hour labour + VAT, a fair bit of cash but a lot less than I was going to spend on another car, which I would`ve been bored with in 6-12 mths again. Getting excited now.

Found 2 videos of S/C M3`s with roughly the same power output I`ve gone for.

If I don`t, I never will.

`Charger will be a couple of weeks yet.

I`ll be picking it up from down South (hopefully on a Sat) when its finished, so maybe we can sort out a mini-meet or something.

Just H&R springs at the minute, the stock M3 handling is pretty good providing the geometry has been set up properly but the demo car I went out in had Intrax IK2`s fitted and it was in a different league even to Kw3`s or PSS9`s. It had no anti-roll bars fitted and spherical joint rear bushes but still felt remarkably smooth with hardly any roll at all.

I think the Intrax will be overkill on the cab `tho, I`m not really after an ultimate track weapon, I`ll be happy just to drop the roof, put some shades on confuse some 911 boys at the `ring.

F**k me! The supercharger is a bargain - although I can see you have a lot already done.

Other than bolt it on, what else is there? Is mapping included in the £50/hr? Anything else big, like manifold?

Mapping is already sorted by ESS, just a case of loading the software then tweaking on the dyno I guess. I`ve been told 8hrs give or take from start to finish.
