Some good news and bad news.

Good news is that I have soldered in the new woofer ICs and the underseat woofers are now working. A nice cheap fix. Ill post a DIY.

Bad news is that I am still a bit dissapointed with the sound quality. When the whole system is playing the sound quality is alright but change the channel to each side - FL, FR,RL,RR then each speaker on its own sounds mediocre. I was hoping for more as when I hooked up the woofers to my sound system they sounded great.

Ill look into whether its possible to upgrade the ICs to put out more power. Alternative options of a new amp is pretty expensive. Im not a base fiend I just want clear low and mids as they sound muddy as it is. Tweeters and front channel does okay job for the highs imo.

Good job

Good job I think this is the first documented
repair of the L7 amp here.
L7 system is a big pain to modify.
I think most people are pretty happy with that system compared
to other OEM car systems.
Its the door speakers that you are not happy with ?
It would be nice if you run the input to the chip to a better
amp.

All of the speakers, front and rear could sound better imo with more power. Maybe im just expecting too much as it is a pretty small amp. Its just that i had my hopes up when i hooked up the underseats to my home stereo system. They sounded crystal clear, nice mids and sharp base thumps. Granted my AV receiver is putting out 175w per channel but just proves the point the only shortcoming with the system is not enough juice. With enough power the speakers will sound very good.

there are plenty mentions about blown subwoofers and tweeters from L7 owners
so more powerful system is original BMW individual audio system or aftermarket Focal/XD combination
