Its your high pressure fuel pump. I had the same symptoms, misfiring, no CEL, and would go out again on acceleration. Mine gave out at 30,400 miles. I'm shopping for an extended warranty.

People are saying that their cars took longer to crank when the fuel pump was bad....mine never did that. It just went into limp mode when I hit boost. I would turn the car off and then back on and it was fine till I boosted again.

I never had long cranks either. I just got my car back three days ago. They had it fixed in four days, that includes the weekend.

Welcome to the wonderful world of BMW

When they work, they are the ultimate driving machines. Could be a coil pack as well, but fuel pump is likely the culprit

Why is Bosch doing fuel pumps?! Surely there's a more capable manufacturer ! They specialize in external $hit like windshield wipers and lights and what not...

haha you should read up on Bosch's history a little more before you make a statement like that. They are an incredibly large company that has made diesel injection systems and engine management systems longer than most any other company around. They were also the first to develop ABS braking systems and many other common place sensor driven safety systems.

+10 Bosch = sophisticated engineering & manufacturing firm. Wipers at Autozone = 1 of 10s of 1000s of SKUs...

Picked up my car today, #2 injector was failing, causing the misfires which triggered limp mode. They ordered the new injector and said it would be in on Wednesday. They said I could drive the car until then and I am dropping it off Thursday morning for repairs.

I understand your frustration with it being a new car but no worries they will get it straightened out for you. Just a little bad luck. I've been running my 335 cranked up to 400+HP for 15k miles with nary a hint of engine trouble, not even a fuel pump. Several others here can say the same.

I retract my previous statement now that's I've done my Homework! Boy did I get put in my place...I had no idea that Bosch was the forefront of modern day vehicle managent i.e. ABS, traction control, adv. Lighting, etc.

Thanks! I learn a lot on this board...I'm still 20 yrs young and naive and say $hit before I think.

They must've been very humble about it if I never knew...

Now that I got my $hit straight I'm sure one fuel pump can slide...

Talking about the Bosch Fuel Pumps. IMHO Bosch doesn't have a very good reputation. My tow vehichle (Dodge 1 ton Cummins Diesel), whereas all Dodge Cummins that have electronic fuel pumps have Bosch injector pumps. Well, they are bad too and it's not just a few here and there. Probably 25 to 30% of all dodge cummins trucks sold that i've heard of...maybe more. Just one of those things I guess...

Tonight I was merging onto the highway and the engine started misfiring like crazy....felt like it was only running on a few cylinders. I stopped on the side of the highway and used BMW assist. I was tired of being on hold so I started the car back up. It felt fine till I started to accelerate then it went all crappy and rough again. I drove it a few miles to my dealer and left it there. I will be there bright and early to start bitching.
Fuel pump, happened to me with 400 miles.

Even if your car was in the shop for 29 days, you would have little to no legal recourse to get out of the car. Sounds like they have found the problem, so at this point it's all about how quick you get the car back and how they treated you throughout the process.

Had a feeling it was fuel related, watch out for fuel pump symptoms and check into the extended warranty if you plan to keep the car very long. Good luck
