How do the wheel specs of these compare to the other stage 2 offerings, RB/VTT/Pure?

Freshly built/rebuilt turbos should have assembly lube, which will get washed away by the oil. It's also why if you check shaft play before install and after running them, there can be a notable difference.

Yes they are lubed up when I received them but it seems like a common practice to prime turbos before starting. I did this on my evo and srt4 back in the day

The wheel size for Pure is probably closer to VTT 2+ 19t or 20t because the spool is about the same and they put down similar power.

pure stated they are using the stock size 1.81" compressor snout, which would lead me to beleive that a 19t would not flow well there. i still think they are using a 15t compressor wheel.

Wedge may post the dyno results himself but if you go Hexon's Facebook page, they have them there already.

Did it myself in my garage. Took me a total of 20hrs but spread out across 6 days. I didn't rush at all. Read forums and used people's advice prior to doing anything just to be sure. So far I have 260miles on the kit and I'm still breaking it in. I feel like 350 miles is plenty of miles of mixed driving to get them ready for wot runs

Good for you Mojo! Very brave man you are!
I recently got new turbos as well. Stock replacements. Close to 500 miles since and haven't had a reason to WOT since. The car pull surprisingly strong so I didn't really had to. All stock and actually quicker than non fbo just chipped friends 335i We should all meet up one weekend.... |

I kept everything oem. Bought the install kit from ecs tuning, I have a air compressor with tools and blew out each line 2x, even sprayed them with brake Cleaner just to be safe.

I was advised by VasilLalov to make sure I receive new oil lines.
These are not covered by warranty. Other than wastegate rattle and high RPM whine on both, turbo#1 had a small seal leak. Needless to say Vasil was spot on > one of the lines > don't know which > was cocked despite regular oil changes. Supposedly, if the get twisted during install will restrict oil flow. I guess that would lead toward premature shaft wear. The rest of the issues with these units in unrelated to the oil lines I think. |
