I certainly would not be loosing sleep over it, some nights my car doesn't even get locked
if I had a bog standard spec car then I wouldn't be so bothered as Insurance would just pay me out and I can go get another one with similar spec but the spec I know I wont find and I bought it because of it so I have to try and keep it secure

Mate.Do some research yourself and get it fitted properly.Don't rely on other people to fit your stuff-especially something like a Blackjax as its invasive into the canbus system.
There are good and shit installers out there and you're going to have no end of problems if you go for the cheapest option.
I would research the system to see if it's right for you as you have to use the code every time a door is opened.
The code isn't like a conventional numeric pad,so unless you're switched on,you can fuck it up.
Don't mean to be harsh, but you've had some really good advice on this thread and you've dismissed a lot of it and that's up to you.
You need to look at what suits you and research accordingly

You have a valet toggle switch which you have to enter a code into every time you start the car or open/close the door when the engine is on.

But as Billyray has mentioned you need to get it installed properly. I can point you in the direction of a friend who is an official installer.

OBD Security

Hi,

This is my first post and I have also been looking at different forms of OBD security.

I have had a look at my fuse configuration for my 2008 E92 335i and it seems that fuse F2 in the fuse box provides power to the socket. It seems different cars have different configs and Fuse F02 in many cases powers other bits like the instrument cluster but if the config note in my fuse box is not mistaken, can I not just remove this fuse when the OBD socket is not in use?

I have attached relevant images.

I apologize if this is off topic a little but I cannot post my own topic yet.

Thanks

I just checked an fuse F2 is missing, according to the Bentley Manual I removed F58 aswell which was present yet my OBD port still worked. So between the BMW note and this manual I removed all fuses relating to OBD in anyway yet the port still has power. F64 is also missing.

If anyone knows why please let me know. I have attached the pages from the manual as well.

Relocate the whole connector. Put a fake one in its place. Send power to the fake one so the diag cable powers up and will leave them guessing as to why its not working.

My main issue with diskloc is where you store the thing? If its in the boot, its going to be a hassle especially in bad weather, and you'll end up going "ach i'll leave it off"

If its in the back seat its both in the way of passengers/children and will smash your skull in should you have a crash.

Simply relocating is very easy & will be sufficient to deter all but the most determined thief.
