Some type of VW. Maybe a Jetta or a CC.

I'd still be in an Audi.

If we're talking about what I would want right this very second under the terms of the OP, Audi S3.

Lexus IS-F or the Audi RS4 Avant(if it ever comes to the US). I like my high-powered 4-dr cars haha hence why I purchased an F80.

If BMW did not exist, I probably would be in either an Infiniti Q60 or an Evo X MR right now. I was looking for a sporty fun to drive automatic sedan because the wife was going to learn to drive on this car. Options were pretty thin, but the 335 fit the bill perfectly. Thank god BMW exists.

Earlier I wrote that I honestly don't know. Earlier today I went to the restroom -- the place where occurs a good deal of thinking about matters great and small -- and decided that absent BMW, I'd buy Mercedes.

I decided that for two reasons:
  • As much as I like BMW handling, any Mercedes has more capability than I have driving ability.
  • I am a "buy it and keep it until it's no good" car consumer, and like BMWs, old Mercedes look nice and don't look "strangely" dated.
In contrast, though many Japanese cars will last just as long, their styling often was "of the times" when they were offered. Some 15 or 20 years later, many of them look "strange" or dated to me now, even though at the time, I very much liked their looks.

In contrast, while I don't generally go "nuts" over the looks of most BMWs or Mercedes, the ones I've bought I think are nice looking, or if not precisely "nice," at the very least not bad looking.

To see what I mean:

1992 Toyota Corolla & 1993 BMW 318i

1992 Toyota Corolla Interior

1993 BMW 318i Interior

With Japanese cars, only a select few seem to have passed the test of time in terms of what I think of their aesthetics today. I can see myself being content driving the BMW. No so the Corolla. And I feel that way about Mercedes' cars too.

All the best

Well, TRIVIA:

if it wasn't for BMW saving itself from bankruptcy in 1959, the great brand as we know it would've been bought out by Benz... But Benz is more for plain ol' luxury rather than a great balance of performance and style IMO...
http://www.autoevolution.com/news/he...-bmw-2185.html

If that tragedy were to happen, I'd most likely go for an Audi, Infiniti, Porsche or even Maserati. Either way, I'd rather have a 9 year old Euro lux car than to EVER go back to your everyday brand; everything is so well thought out and oh-so-fun to drive; iDrive > Toyota Entune ANY DAY. BUT if I do have to step back into eco range, a VW would have to work (in fact I was thinking seriously about the Passat or CC before I got this car), but I'm not sure which ones are the Mexican-made variants and ones that are from Deutschland.

Also, more trivia here: http://www.supercompressor.com/rides...r-manufacturer
