So Quaife is holding up but the stock tranny is failing?
What options are there for an auto tranny upgrade?

The 11.6 second run was done launching in 1st gear (as my tranny slipped launching from 2nd, to much torque).
Was a hot night up at the track also, 11.5's maybe in cooler conditions?
Ignore reaction time as it was just a test & tune night, no shootouts, my R/T is normally almost 0.
Anyway, very happy with my runs and the car is consistent at the track, ran 3 x 11.8's, 1 x 11.7 & 1 x 11.6
Great times Heath. I was tossing up whether to go out and watch last night but decided to give it a miss. I wish I went out now. I would be rapped with those times. What size ET Street Radials are you using. Mine are 245 X 40 X 18. I found 16/17psi the best for traction. Any higher pressure and the length of the footprint gets smaller and you get less traction. Any lower and it gets a bit hairy at the end of the track. Can't wait to get my Quaife LSD installed again, install the Stage 2 LPFP, install the VTT inlets whenever they come and get a custom tune for E40.

Dont quote me on this but i would assume the diff should be able to handle alot more power than im putting down! All that torque through a stock transmission (especially launching in 2nd gear) puts alot of strain on it.
Yes from what i know there is Level 10 gearbox upgrades, or you can add additional clutches/better clutch material which i think is what is in the late model falcon ZF gearboxes

hey mates how are things. Yes, pretty happy with the times! Im running Hoosies 275x40x17's. I feel i can go higher in tyre pressure as grip wasnt of concern with the 275's, so that should infact help with my ET's slightly.
What times have you run to date??

My best is only 12.15s @118.12mph. I am losing time in the first half of the track. I should be getting high 11s on BP98 and hopefully, times like yours using some E85. I have RB turbos which have less torque at the lower revs but give higher top speeds. Using a e40 blend, the top end should increase by a few mph.

I was running 12.1@118mph a few weeks back (no RB turbo's of course). What was your 60ft?? Are you Auto?

Not worried about him, that's AWD and also in America! I think the world's fastest stock turbo 335i RWD is 11.2 (from America).
The American's seem to be well ahead of us Aussies, but were catching them quick now with the big guns on the scene bhahaha

My best 60' time is only 1.87s. I need to get more stall on the line to improve that. I would love to have more stall in the torque converter. I made contact with Monsta Torque Performance in Perth who upgraded the ZF auto in my G6E Turbo to ask whether they could add more stall in the 335 ZF converter the same as they did with the G6E ZF. They said that it could be done but were concerned about the computer going into limp mode. With the G6E, I could stall to 3,000 rpm on the line and was getting 1.67s 60' times. There was no noticeable difference in driving it around the street. Whether RVO Automatics in Melbourne can do this, I am not sure.

A 1.87 60ft is really pretty good! Is that launching in 1st or 2nd?
Iv'e heard that you can get your convertor modified to stall 500rpm above standard and still drives as per normal, no limp issues! Im looking into getting my gearbox modified, need to upgrade my clutch pack plates as im getting slip in 2nd gear at the track.

I use 1st gear for launching as the diameter of the ET Radials is larger than the diameter of the street tyres. I tried 2nd a couple of times but found the times were slower. I don't know of any business in Qld that modifies our ZF autos. They all appear to be in Sydney and Melbourne where there are more modified 135's and 335's. The Hoosier slicks will certainly be putting strain on all components between the crankshaft and tyres.

Yeah my slicks are slightly larger diameter as well. I spent days comparing tyre size, rolling diameter etc as well. Ideally you would choose a tyre diameter thats smaller than stock size to help improve 60ft times, but there is nothing suitable for our cars!
Let me know if you hear of anyone in Qld getting upgraded bits for there ZF box!

Hi Heath. I asked the Rencal Motors rep at the Jamboree today if he was aware of any shops around the Brisbane/ Gold Coast area that upgraded the ZF 6HP19 auto and didn't know of any. He has never had anyone request an upgrade. If you check out their Facebook page, you will see that they work on plenty of beemers.

Heath, Where did you get your Quaife LSD installed? Diff Lapping installed the Quaife into my original diff but now that I am ready to get it installed into my new diff, I was wondering who else around the Brisbane area does a good job of it.
