I suppose it will depend on how the UK regulators play the recall game. I read that Germany have issued a compulsory recall for all affected vehicles in the country, rejecting a voluntary scheme. What that will mean in practice, we wait to see. If the UK follows the same compulsory recall, I'm assuming all cars will have to visit the dealer.

UK recall is voluntary. Even if the recall notification was mandatory it's hard to see how they could force you to have anything done to the your car. The only potential issue is your insurance and they know you have a nonstandard map anyway.
