matteblue3er thanks, maf seems fine as it was recently changed. For n52 the maf is made by siemens but the OEM one comes with the continental marking on it, correct? Also the vacuum leaks have been the first i've looked for.

UPDATE:

I went on a trip to see my grandmother(about 130 miles) and 50 miles in the journey check engine light. Here are the codes:

What do you guys think? I replaced the solenoid for the intake, i'm guessing inlet = inlet manifold? Could it be possible that the other one went bust?

Any help would be appreciated on these errors.

Happy holidays lads!

The o2 sensors are triggering the Catalytic converter errors? Also, anyone knows if the OEM maf comes branded as continental? I think the factory maf comes branded by VDO.

Have you inspected/cleaned the Check valves? They filter the oil that goes to the Vanos, so can cause a similar issue as jammed solenoids.

Continental MAF is basically just the new branding of the old VDO and VDO/Siemens branded MAF sensors - at least that's what I remember reading when I replaced mine (was a gamble that didn't pay off in my case, so still have the original one too).

Thanks man, will look into this. Never heard about the check valves but i am reading up on your thread now. I also ordered the solenoid last night, should arrive in about a week, if that doesn't work i'll check those.

Solenoid here! Omw to install it. Here's hoping it's not a cam bearing issue.

Done! It was a 20 minute job and the error has disappeared, i appreciate everyone's input on this.

One more thing, the catalyst errors could have been thrown because of the solenoid due to improper vanos timing? I had the errors before i passed my inspection & i passed the emission with flying colors.

Could it be the O2 sensors or the catalytic converter going bad?

Anyone? Still getting slight idle jolts.

Changed: Plugs, Coils, Solenoids. Could the catalytic converter errors be causing this? Are the cats going bad or the sensors? Could it be the oil breather?

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I think i'm tracking the faults to the CVV. I understood the hoses need to be replaced as well since they fail in time. Can someone confirm these are the codes for the parts?

11617531423, 11617559530, 11157522931, 11157567801.

I did change both solenoids. Belts/pulleys look fine as well.

I rounded it up to either the maf or the CCV + hoses. What else could cause a rough idle?I'm guessing injectors but i would think i'd get a misfire code.

I don't have any other codes since i cleared them and changed the solenoid, but as you can see above i get the cat codes....could it be the actual cat or the o2 sensors?

Would you say the pre-cat ones? I understood there are 4.

11617531423

11617559530

11157522931

11157567801

Which of these two would trigger the errors and/or misfires?

Anyone? I get no check engine light. But when i scan the car after deleting them they reappear. I don't want to keep throwing money at it in order to get a fix as the o2 sensors along with a new cat can be really expensive.

When I clean the vanos solenoids do I need to replace the rubber gaskets?

Thanks ahead of time!

Not necessarily, mine were still good on the old Solenoids which were the car's originals.

Cool! Hopefully mine are still good. I read that brake cleaner was okay to use to clean them, is that correct?

Yes, should be good. If they are still throwing errors after about 200 km i would recommend replacing them, they're really cheap.

I don't believe I'm throwing any errors. I mean nothing pops up when I start the car. It just feels sluggish as shit. I replaced the plugs it felt a little better.

I would have your tech pull the large DISA valve and see if it has failed. When it goes there are no warning lights. Its a simple check and worth looking into especially being that you have checked everything else!
