In some cases you may have to register it: 1. Click Start, type cmd. 2. Right-click the cmd icon, and then click Run as Administrator. 3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: Regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx Do the same for SYSwow64 instead of system32 |

Wow, this program is a nightmare. After I got everything working, INPA wouldn't talk to my transmission. I then updated it, now nothing works and every program just starts the installer over again???

I've no idea WTF you've done from step 1 but clearly something is wrong on your end. I know of several machines with this fully functioning.

It's just a terrible way to implement a program. It's easy if your car happens to work with that version of INPA, but if you need to update anything the program fails.

What car of yours didn't work? This has a later version of INPA, I don't see where the problem can lie.
What is it you're trying to accomplish and what did you do so far? |

INPA Couldn't read transmission. Uninstalled and just installed the BMW standard tools and everything works fine and lets me update programs with no problem.
Not sure what was up. |

can't code injectors
I can read fault errors, but can't code injectors. When i enter into system diagnose under engine, all tabs are blank at the bottom. I'm think that my install might not have the right daten files.
Can someone tell me how to determine what daten file i have? Version? Please ELI5! |

"The supported integration level can be found in the KMM database. With Windows Notepad, open the file E89\kmmData\kmm_ZK.txt. This is an example from SP Daten 51.1" Where is this file? How do I find it? ELI5 please |

The kmm_ZK.txt file is found in the E89 SP daten folder. If you didn't install the software yourself or no longer have the SP daten files that were used at the time of installation, you will not have that file.

I used Mike's Easy install. It said the Daten files were suppose to be included. I guess not. While I'll need to be able code eventually, at the moment it's not necessary. I was having a misfire in cylinder 5. Prior to this misfire I replaced the coils, and had walnut blasting of intake ports. My concern was the fuel injector so I was trying to prepare for replacing it. I just installed all new spark plugs which fixed the problem. The electrodes on all spark plug were worn down. I have 93k on my car and not sure if they were ever replaced before. I've read your guide on INPA but that stuff is like a foreign language for me. I need an idiots guide for updating Sp Daten files or just getting them installed in the right location. Thanks for helping!!

can someone please help me, i am trying to get the BMW Coding Tool to work but after repeated attempts I keep getting the same error: Componet 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I have registered both the files in a command prompt multiple times, I also disabled windows defender because it was blocking it and repeatedly replaced the files in both folders just in case something was wrong with them. Im stumped and I have new injectors in my car that's taken apart in my garage lol I'm desperate.

Probably a bit of a long shot here... But did anyone ever get an error stating that "microsoft .NET framework 3.5 needs to be installed" ? I keep getting the error when trying to install, but it looks like my .NET framework is up to date on my computer. Have already tried running as admin.
EDIT: I figured it out, I had 3.5 disabled when I was using visual studio. Whoops
