Does anybody actually know what the 335IS clutch is rated for? The car doesn't have much more power then a regular 335i so would be interesting what BMW rated it for versus the regular N54 clutch.

I believe the same clutch is used on the 550i which is 1k lbs heavier and Dinan maintains the same clutch with their stage 3 kit making 460 TQ (not WTQ). I haven't heard anything bad on the forums and it should theoretically hold the power.

my SPEC Stg 2+ with OEM DMFW is very similar to stock...I always forget that I'm running an upgraded clutch and I've also heard Shiv ran a 2+ with upgraded turbos so it sounds like they the 463whp # might be a bit underrated, similar to our cars stock hp #'s.

My Dad/bro who drive my car on occasion didn't even notice when I updated my clutch

I just received mine from the group buy. I got the Spec Stage 3+ and Mfactory smfw... I figured I'm already FBO including inlets and running E60, and I'll probably be getting upgraded twins by this time next year, so I might as well get a clutch that I can grow into

I remember reading somewhere that someone had the 335is clutch and it started slipping at 550wtq

I'd agree it's a bit under-rated. Shiv had over 40K miles on his 2+ with plenty of track launches on slick.

He made one video back in the day with over 12 6000 RPM clutch dumps on that 2+ with his single turbo which was pushing a good 600WHP. I'm not sure on the torque numbers but I'm sure they are somewhere in the archives.

I went with a mack daddy clutch, Clutchmasters FX850 8 puck Twin Disk clutch with SMFW

Fast shifting is smooth and effortless. This is with the stock shifter, I havent installed my short shifter yet

-2 is for SMFW

Sb532 is for DMFW (SAC)

Its labeled on our site for DMFW or for SMFW to avoid confusion.

Stock will do it for a little bit but eventually give up.

Well shoot stg2 are only for stock turbos then. Which if the 335is clutches are in fact better then i cant see the point of ever needing one

How long do you think this clutch and flywheel will last if it's power shifted frequently? Also, will power shifting shorten the life of the trans?

The 335is clutch in my opinion is vaporware.

Many views and opinions on forums are not exactly tested in a controlled environment.

It hasn't really been proven any better in my eyes.

As you say, a stock clutch can last for a certain point with 400WHTQ + but eventually give up.

By no accident, mating a 335is clutch and holding the same power doesn't really prove its any better cause the stock clutch could have done it too.

So you can gamble with the 335is clutch and be blind as to how much power it really holds or get an aftermarket clutch with an actual rating.

Power shifting is not good for any vehicle or clutch.

oops wrong term used, didn't even realise it. Gas pedal was mostly released during shifts. Just done really fast.

No I don't shift without lifting off the gas.

Yes sir....... I found the issue prior to the discovery of the new tables. I have guys still on COBB with no issues even with upgraded turbos.

Is this a secret sauce not available to the public? I'm AT now anyway, just curious but I'll recommend any guys to you/wedge (as I do anyway) that need help with that.

Not sure what you mean, plenty of us went FBO and then after moving to E85 the stock clutch didn't have enough clamping power and after changing to the 335is clutch it has the clamping power to hold the power.
