So what you are saying is, someone has cracked the DCT TCU and can now flash custom maps to it?

So raj are you saying my gear changes aren't 15-20 percent quicker, the torque converter doesn't lock up sooner in the rev range, I don't have increased mid range torque & paddle & gearshifts are not noticeably quicker?

Someone got this on their 335d a while back (si-335d) and a lot of the guys inthe states were sceptical. I wasn't sure but the £500 pricetag put me off.

But if its dropped to £195, and definitely improves the gear changes and torque lock up then it has spiked my interest again. It would be a shame if all they are doing is resetting the adaptations, which i do for free myself via software.

A lot of people have been trying for a long time to crack the TCU. The encryption has been compared to "defense level"

No I'm sceptical it's a custom flash and not just the alpina flash or something that's generic and potentially a lot cheaper normally.

If it is genuine then tbh excellent as I'd be interested.

I believe this is a flash for DCT. So this would be a first as far as I know. The Alpina is only for the AT.

Hey Raj, JFA is a British company that has developed software to tune DSG & auto gearboxes, am now unsure about DCT. Seems they can do it on almost any car. You can just buy the flash & instal yourself.
It's definitely improved the way my car puts its power down, I guess I won't know how much of an improvement until I take it to the pod on Saturday, weather permitting.

I was actually wondering the same. About the car being to early for DCT?
It's definately not steptronic???

What does the shifter look like?

DCT

Steptronic

There is some confusion here as his sig says DCT. And his comet above says they tune dct boxes...
But the times don't line up.
He will have to come in and clear it up.

If he comes back in and says he has auto and has just paid 175 quid for the Alpina flash...... There is a pretty obvious difference though.

I think it is a Step like mine but possibly just has the DCT paddles retrofitted as again like mine is (as I have the M3 steering wheel).

Now I am confused!! I thought my car was a 6 speed DCT, as it is factory fitted with steering wheel paddle shift & I thought bmw changed to a 7 speed DCT 2009/10.
Maybes 2009/10 was when the DCT was introduced & maybe the earlier cars just have a auto box with paddle shifters, so if my gearbox isn't DCT I apologise for the confusion & I will remove DCT from my signature.
I am awaiting confirmation from JFA on whether or not they can flash a DCT gear box.
Whatever type of gearbox I do have has been improved by the flash & I am happy with the results.

What type of shifter do you have from the pics above.?
If you have the auto shifter you have just been charged £175 for the Alpina flash. This is available for about £50 from various forum members.
This is why so many of us were skeptical.

Ah ok. No the auto box comes with paddles too. Standard paddles are the push/pull variant which on the LCI (I think) went to pull both sides with upshift on one side and downshift on the other. Then there was DCT too.

At the end of the day you are happy with what you now have so tbh it's all good.

I fired a few questions at JFA last night to clear things up. They have so far ignored me.

Cheers buddy. If JFA do get in touch about flashing DCT I will let you guys know what they say.
Any of you guys going to the pod this Saturday?
