Garage List
2011 BMW M3  [10.00]
Which is stupid really, as that engine (M57) has been in use since about 1998!

Yes its had a few tweaks along the way (M57N, M57N2) but since 1998 an egr cooler/stat has been added, a DPF has been added, an extra turbo has been added, etc.

Even so, all the wrinkles should have been ironed out.

My Sept 2011 335d is on 92k and all its needed is a new red boost hose at 91k and now a new manifold at 92k. Thankfully under BMW Warranty.

i have 2006 335d european e92 for 4 years. i am not even sure if i remember all the problems because there were so many, but here we go:
1.low power 3x due to loss of vacuum of red pipe from intercooler (diagnostics never showed fault, but it had no low rev power)
2.numerous tire slashes plus cracked almost all 4 wheels. this is maybe past owner's fault too
3.bad battery needed to replace
4.flywheel failure (big deal)
5.drive belt failure (big deal)
6.charger pipe (aluminium) cracked (mid deal) (nobody could find a fault of low power 6 months due to fault not showing on diagnostics again)
7. gearbox leaking then changed oil and now gearbox jerks, slips, etc. (big deal)
8. cracked and lost headlight washer cover (small deal)
9.i am not even mentioning small things such a burned angel lights or other inside lights and indicators...
10. i am sure i forgot something, because basically every other week i have some problem with the car.....
i regret getting this car...i should have go for either 335i coupe petrol or something else....it sounds shit too and already looks old on the road

It seems that from many of the problems your car had were the result of being driven hard on poor roads with less than adequate maintenance.

my 2011 d has had a few failures on the way to 91k the def tank went bad.. and one of the fuel pumps i believe the low pressure one and also the glow plug control module.. the charge pipe was leaking slightly so i changed the orings and was pleased to get back some performance off the line as well! Oh yeah, I had a faulty wheel speed sensor too.

Did just belt tear up or did the pulley tear up too? At 143k, I would say your pulley is on heavily borrowed time if still factory installed unit.

Purchased my 335d new back in 2011, currently at 30k miles, had all the emissions garbage removed. Drove the car recently 2k miles on a trip without a hitch. If you do the SCR, EGR, DPF delete, and gut out the catalytic converter (and have all that coded out), you'll find that this car is super reliable.

Prior to the alphabet delete I had the intake manifold replaced at 18k miles and the catalytic converter replaced at 22k miles.... the car was less reliable than my F-car! Now, it is golden
