minus $ sale/trade of car (i'm realistically guessing $8k)

equals = $25k

$25k divided by length of ownership (approx 48 months) = about $520/month

60 months of ownership = about $420/month

I think the #'s look pretty shitty - meaning high/expensive if comparing it to a no hassle new car lease.

Without running the numbers I was anticipating cost/month of around $300.
The big cost for me so far has been depreciation. I expect I've lost 10k in value in 1 year on this car, between purchase and trade in. The other thing is there is a BMW tax on most repairs and parts, people up charge frequently because we own a BMW. The other thing I've discovered is very few people know how to work on these cars. Most dealers are marginally competent, and independents who have actually worked ion a d are few and fare between. So when (not if) it breaks it can be expensive to get it fixed right. Unless you can do it yourself.

It's a great car, there is nothing else like it, and I love mine. But they high maintence cars and expensive to own.

I'd just bank on an additional 1500-3000 a year on maintence and repairs.

P.s. I have a 2011 335d, wth sports, premium, navigation, Harmon Kardon, heated seats, bt, white with black interior. 47k miles, and it's had a cbu cleaning at 28k miles. Interested?
The depreciation is with any BMW. Remember these cars were 50k+ new. After a year with the fun stuff nothing has broke, yet...

I am making my mind into water and meth injection, but maybe next year.

Have no idea what does it worth, people on the forum can tell me probably
The problem with selling tuned cars is that they're rarely worth what you have put into them. Don't forget, it's very hard to find a shop to work on them (the dealers generally won't) because of the tune. You're also kind of stuck with the software you had when you tuned it, unless you have access to programming expertise.

Most people just want a reliable car.
After looking at this statement again, it's funny because people are doing the ABC delete to GAIN reliability!

Yeah, this car has sunk a lot in value, it's msrp was 54k. I purchased mine used and under warranty, in April of 2015 for 24k with 28k miles on the clock. Trade in right now is hovering around 13.5k with 47k no longer under warranty. so basically at this point this car is nearly depreciated out. It won't fall much more in value until it reaches 10 years or 100k miles.

I can't say I've ever owned a used car that fell by almost 50% in one year, probably because it's not under BMW warranty. I suspect I could retail this car myself for about 17500

Totally agreed
I would be happy with stock performance if it would be bulletproof.
Unfortunately i had to go all the way down just to make it more reliable than stock ...

Depreciation worked in my favor, as the second owner:
2011 335d #1: $56K sticker, paid $16,000 @ 88K miles
2011 335d #2: $58K sticker, paid $17,200 # 70K miles

However, extended warranties on both extended those ownership costs quite a bit, plus 1 $2,655 repair on one of them.

So with these cars, you incur financial damage whether the second or first owner.

In my understanding this car will save money in the long run, when everything deleted and cleaned and just run it for 10 years.

I am considering an emissions delete on one of those cars. Weighing options and figuring out how that will affect my bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. It's a tough decision IMHO.

I've got a 2010 Alpine White with Saddle interior that I'm looking to sell. I bought CPO with 56k and got CBU taken care of at 96k miles by Classic BMW in Plano TX. They did the cleaning and replaced the manifold. That was the only issue I've ever had. Has 110k on the clock now. Car is completely stock. Replaced rear shocks and front bushings/arms at around 90k. Asking $15k. PM if interested.

In our state we have to pass "visual inspection" if they suspect that emissions equipment was removed or does not exist than it is a very long story getting some emission approved shops to get some paper work.

Normally nobody looks into that, but you never know when and what will happen, so i want complete factory look with minor changes.

nice way to go if inspection is required. Gut the DPf and cat and throw a tune in there. save money on aftermarket pipes or other hardware. Just pay for tune and labor

Yea I need to edit the post. Trying to cut back on payment and looking for mid teens price range. Might just be better looking for cheaper one stock and doing it self. Was a nice 09 on here that went for 13.5 ish IIRC.

You recall correctly. That car was a great deal, priced for quick sale. This board is getting more and more action from TDI folks coming over so my guess is you'll find slim pickings, but they are still out there. DIY tune costs will range from $1K to $4K, depending on options you want in the car.

^ thanks dman all you said is right on. I'm trying to lower my payments by getting into a far superior car and looking for a needle in a hay stack. Odds on my side lol patience will be needed.

Very welcome and best of luck. Just remember, you have time on your side. The buyback appt can always be pushed back, but there just aren't alot of these cars out there.

Funny, while the D is fun and quite frankly raw, even in stock form compared to the 2.0CR (mine was tuned too), I sure wish they made the D with a manual option or even a DSG. The VW DSG is buttery smooth compared to the ZF tranny on the D.
