OP, a few comments...
The correct term for a BMW car is "Bimmer". "Beemer" is a BMW motorcycle. I sounds like to me you went into this whole search unbiased, which is a good thing. If you're still in your truck after 2 years of test driving sport sedans, I'd say just stick with trucks or SUVs. If test most all of the "C" class sports sedans on the market didn't lure you into the segment, then maybe a sport sedan is not your cup of tea. Good luck with the search.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I checked out the Q50S, Lexus IS 350, Audi S4 and ended up with the 335xi M Performance edition. If it wasn't for the fantastic sales rep and experience that we had shopping at our BMW dealership, I think we would have went with the Infinity. The person helping me work through my purchase won me over as much as the car itself. I have to say, in this regard, BMW and Audi had a markedly better customer experience than the other brands I shopped.

You really need to go drive some sports cars. Then you'll know what real power is & how great it is when you find a driver's car.

I think I agree with your point of the new 3er. When I drove the F30 328i, the only thing I distinctly remember was the engine, which I was quite impressed by. Everything else was kind of meh, and the feedback found in previous models seems entirely gone. Also, although I don't dislike the interior design, it leaves little room for any sort of elegance to be expressed which lead me to think the interior felt a bit cheap.

The Acura reminded me of an Apple product. It didn't completely stand out in any area, but every single aspect of the car seemed perfectly matched. Some of the other cars felt like a bit of a mashup. Handling didn't quite line up with power delivery, transmission wasn't as enthusiastic as the engine, etc., etc.
