ive had Progressive for 5 years and have had no issue. The time I totaled a car, I had a check for a great value on the car within 5 days. My wife and I have also been hit twice by people with Geico, and both times, Progressive ended up settling the claim for us and going after their insurance.
The last time we were hit, Geico was a nightmare to deal with. Wife was hit in the driver door to where the door wouldnt open and parts of the fender and wheel well liner were rubbing on the front wheel. Geico's adjuster finally came to our house to take a look at the damages, deemed it safe enough to drive, and put a low priority on it and set up an appointment with a body shop for a month later. Also wouldnt pay for a rental car or anything until the car was in the shop. Called up Progressive and they took over the claim and had our car into a shop, and us into a rental by the end of the day. Before Progressive, i had Allstate and never had any issue, but never had a claim either so I cant comment on them much. |

Maybe I should have said adjuster. The writer calls the owner here. The writer can limit what is repaired especially if there is previous damage. However they can also consider all damage as part of THIS claim. So when the adjuster calls make it easy for them. Show up on time, be friendly, and act reasonable.

I like my Mercury coverage.
My sister gets the best deal at Wawanesa. They offer low prices because once you are at fault with an issue, they cancel your insurance or force you to cancel by raising the rates a lot (so i've heard) I can't believe insurance is so much. My wife's comprehensive insurance on a 2014 MY car is less than my comprehensive insurance for a 2000 Honda! edit: also USAA is a great choice if you qualify. They seem to be pretty upstanding. |

I went from progressive to Geico. I use online no a gent. For my 2015 BMW no accidents, no tickets I pay $1,428.30 every 6 months.
Progressive was a little more expensive but I like Geico better. |

A bit OT, but it is a good idea to get an umbrella policy (ours is thru homeowners) for big liability, at least 1 million. This covers auto stuff, so the auto policy doesn't need to be the highest level. Sounds like overkill, until you do the math on a serious injury to somebody - if they need much hospital, or are disabled, then things get expensive quickly, and driving a BMW means that they will assume you have deep enough pockets to go after it. FWIW we are w/ State Farm, haven't had a claim recently but they were good to work with in the past. My experience w/ Allstate was terrible, but so long ago that it doesn't really relate to today.

Been with State Farm for the past 15 years. No real complaints and rates aren’t terrible. For the four cars at 250k/500k with 1mm umbrella and $500 deductible, I spend about $270 a month.

After 25 yrs with same State Farm agent, I switched everything to Geico. I have 7 cars and their rates are incredibly reasonable. I intentionally have high deductibles as I don’t mind putting up a couple grand for an accident. Their customer service is exceptional too. I’ve turned so many people on to Geico and all are happy. My wife had a small incident and it was handled really well and quickly. One of my favorite companies, not due to savings/rates but due to their professionalism.

I am also with State Farm. Have multiple cars and motorcycles insured with them along with two homes. I also have an umbrella. But one thing that was made clear to me. To get into an umbrella, I had to max out the coverage of my vehicles to the top end of liability which is 250/500k. I've had some claims over the years and State Farm has handled them well. I like having an agent office where over the years they have gotten to know me. I also like having them answer questions about filing a claim without the risk of having it ding my record as they won't report any of our conversations up.
As for Geico, I've been insured with them in the past. Haven't had any major negatives to say about them. They were great when my parents and I were involved in a major car wreck in upstate NY. We had to navigate through the whole no fault nature of the state as we didn't live there. The bills were huge due to the medical injuries my parents sustained...especially my father. We were bombarded by bills from every cog in that medical system. One of the providers kept trying to get us to pay their unadjusted insurance bill. I kept telling them to send it to Geico. They refused and threatened to sue us/send to collections the amount. I called the Geico claims adjuster handling our case. She was outraged by their conduct and said not to worry. She'll handle it. And after that call, I never heard from those crooks again. |

Been with State Farm ever since I learned to drive, and was put under my parent’s policy.
Now, some 25 years later, both mine and my wife’s cars continue to be insured through State Farm, as well as our Homeowner’s Policy and Rider Policy for jewelry. Premium for my 2018 X5 is $1,200 for 12 months. Wife’s premium for her 2016 Infinity Q50 is $1,100 for 12 months. We’ve called around in response to various solicitations received from Liberty, Allstate, etc. but no Insurer is able to quote rates as competitive as what we receive from State Farm. |

As with all discussions about rates with insurance, what one pays means nothing without actual details. Someone can be paying $500 every 6 months on 5 cars but they're only buying the bare minimum their state requires, with no collision, and the highest deductible offered. If you're going to discuss what you're paying, at least include your coverage limits, deductible, whether you're paying for collision, and also your geographical area (as this also has a good impact on your rates).

I live in NY and I'm old. I pay $2400/year. Clean license, highest coverage they offer. It's just expensive here.

Dear Lord - either I am the safest driver on the planet (I'm not) or some of y'all are doing it wrong. My current rates through Travelers Insurance:
$685 for the BMW, $512 for the MINI, and $1,325 for the Ferrari. Oh - And this is FOR THE WHOLE YEAR, not every six months! Some of you are paying more for a BMW every six months. That can't be right. Specifics: 250 DED COMP 500 DED COLL / 1,000 DED COLL - FERRARI 50 DED GLASS 100,000 PIP/LIAB/UNINS MTR
