Buying anything across the border you really have to do the math.

Sometimes in the end it may be worth just buying here and avoid the hassle.

Agreed. That's why I rarely pay attention to people who post ads that originate from the U.S. because I'm not saving enough to risk the hassle buying out of country. A lot of people always recommend ECS but never do the math. ECS is amazing if you're in the States but buying in Canada there are no savings because ECS uses terrible shipping rates that negates any sort of savings. You can use it as a reference but always compare to ads done in local currency.

Your initial price was arguably fair but no one was going to save a couple of hundred dollars to buy used. You changed it to $1,200 then to $1,000. You could have left it at $1,200 and that would be fair and reasonable regardless of what anyone said. If this is your first time selling, it's something to know and learn for future postings. I had the same problem, didn't know what to price things for and sold things for a lot cheaper than what I could have got it for.

We all loose out once in a while , I'll learn for next time. I didn't know what to price it at because of what everyone was telling me .

i thought 1200$ was way high, surprised it sold at 1k. ive had one at 950 that i took down to 800 and only had 1 person show any real interest (hes coming to see it tonight). Might just be easier to sell in toronto...cuz ive had no takers here in mtl after 1 month+.

That's just lowballing by people who are looking at the lowest price possible. I think $1,200 is very reasonable given the retail price in Canada and considering that something like an exhaust doesn't really fail or have any defects shouldn't drive down the price in anyway.

While the price is reasonable, will someone buy it? Who knows but I don't think it's a high asking price for a used BMW Performance exhaust.

That's just bad / not realistic advice. At the end of the day, the market speaks, and if the guy can't move it at a said price for a while, that tells you something. Plus, depends how quickly he wants to move it.

Here's one going for sale in the US for $720 shipped, which translates to about $900 Canadian, and you drive an hour to pick it up. Worth it to save $300 if you have to fork over $1200 for it locally...

You're closer to the truth IMO Bob.

You just proved our point. Everyone here (except the Bingo Balls guy) was saying $1200 or more was way too high.
