What does the AAR race pipe mod do? My 335d has the EGR blocks (high and low end) and it is also coded out of the system along with the EGR cooler, work done by the good guys over at BPC.

Is there an advantage to running the race pipe mod?

Thank you.

I like the block plates as well.

The race pipe is nice because it removes the egr cooler completely. You also get rid of the egr vac line so there are less chances of leaks. Then aesthetics and no obstruction in the middle section of course.

Thank you.
All of the above, the main ones are increased airflow and a nicely sealed intake path to reduce boost leaks.

update on the car... so the mechanic pulled the egr and cleaned it fully, he said that the egr was covered in carbon build up. Now I get the car back today and the code is still on reduced engine power. They say it can be the egr cooler or that the turbos have gone bad. any input?

Intake manifold could also be covered in carbon as well.

Nice! I'm assuming from your statements that you don't have meth or catch can or otherwise done anything else to combat CBU. Correct?

I am running meth, but very rarely. I use it on a boost switch and most of the time it stays off... So 85% of the time no meth, the other 15% really just for racing since it comes on at around 30lbs. My setup is a little different.

no I don't have any of that done, I bought the car last September with 120k miles on it and the owner had none of that installed.

any update on your car die$el<3? Your intake might be gummed up with carbon as GreekboyD stated. My car had the intake manifold replaced at 18k miles due to CBU (covered under warranty) and also had CBU cleaning. You should try and find an indy that will do the CBU for you for a reasonable price and see if that takes care of your problem. I doubt that your turbos have gone bad, I dont think that has been a prominent problem with the Ds here or in Europe.

limp mode

I had occasional limp mode for several months prior to cleaning CBU. Not since.

Also had low end power loss, which two shops thought was low end turbo related. They were both wrong, it was an actuator. There was even a code for it, but I had to insist that they change it. wierd.

Do you still have the code associated with the fault? If so, please post it here so that it can be documented and it can be something we look into before digging into other parts.

Thanks!

so got the car back and it was a vacuum hose on the back side of the engine that was causing the code. So if anyone gets this type of code I would say check your hoses first.
