It's on the simple notation that if 1 or 2 injectors are going bad then there is a strong likelihood that the others are going bad in the near future. It also reduces the potential risk of having an old weak injector in there that might be running leaner compared to the other cylinders. If 1 is on a budget and you don't care about having optimal performance, efficiency and fueling then yea replace 1. In my case I had 2 bad injectors. I initially only replaced 1 and the result actually was worse. I then tried replacing just 2 and it seemed to get better. After playing games with injectors and wasting time, I ended up replacing all 6 and the car improved in all aspects. This situation may not be the norm. Everyone's situation will be different. Just like when you re-build an engine that only has 1 cylinder blown, do you just replace that 1 cylinder? Or should you replace all cylinders so they are equal. I prefer the latter method assuming the parts are worn from age. |
