You are almost the same age as me OP. I would highly consider the G37 if you want a fast, reliable and luxurious car. I owned a 335i and it is the best car I've ever driven, but the maintenance is not something that a university student can afford. So unless you will be DIY or it comes with a warranty, dont buy it. The 328i is more reliable I've heard, but the most common issues on my car weren't even due to the turbos, which makes me question that. My plan is to get an E60 M5 once I graduate and am not on a student budget. The G37's ride is quiet boring compared to the E90/E92 cars but it's a good luxurious fast sports car for a student.

If it is a BMW dealer, chances are they will not keep the car on the lot for that long. I was able to negotiate my local BMW dealer down from 11,900 to 9,700 by clearly pointing out that if they didn't sell me the car, they were going to send it to auction and get even less money. Also, inspect the exterior of the car for repainted panels etc. My carfax showed no accidents, but it appeared to me that the car had been keyed at one point and panels were repainted due to blend lines in the door jams. This didn't bother me because there was no structural damage, but if you act like it does, they are more willing to work with you. Same goes for door dings, love taps, etc. These cars are roughly 10 years old at this point so if you can find damage, point it out. Lastly, just be tough and don't back down from the number you are willing to go with. Offer then $500-$1,000 less than what your maximum price is so that you have room to negotiate. If you stand your ground, it may take a couple hours but generally they fold on a used car. Good luck!
