I cant understand this thinking most of the people on this board have about their $45k+ cars. Calling someone Moneybags for buying a Dinan Flash? So the question is, you got the car, who gave it to you? haha... IMO, it sounds better than proBLEM V.2 and no warranty

I was quoted $2195 w/o BMW CCA

In case you missed the discussion we were talking about the Dinan flash and how much people were paying for them. There seems to be around a $400 difference in what dealers are charging. Some people on this forum suggested to just forget about it, it’s a 50K car.

My point was that I would rather have 300-400 bucks rather then the dealer. So, I would shop around a little.

So, shaking head as to where you are coming from???

The Mr. Moneybags comment was to the guy who doesn’t care about a few hundred bucks, joking around (thought that was self explanatory).

even a multi-millionaire doesn't just give money away, why should any of us.

They usually got that way for a reason (good financial decisions throughout life) . Just different mind sets I think, hints why the US net savings rate is around -3%

Peace.

Wow, admit to making a mistake; don’t see that enough on here as well!! Well done!!

I am on the fence with what to do. But, my prediction was that V2 will start to catch up to people with problems. The more this engine gets pushed with little to no modeling or reliably testing, the higher the chance something is going to give.

I think you Dinan guys will be way better off in the long run, planning to keep your car over 50K or so.

That was my plan. Additional performance thats as safe as possible.

This was from a Steve Dinan interview.

Steve: We have to approach every dealer independently. They are independent businesses, and we ask them if they’d like to be a dealer, or they’ll approach us because they’ve heard about us and our products. All BMW has done is agree to us covering our portion of the warranty, and really not stop us otherwise. Our warranty claims are only in the two to three percent range. We’re very thorough with our engineering. If you’re going to warranty something for 50,000 miles, it makes you a lot more conscious about the quality and design. If you make a big blunder in that area, it could really cost you. If you buy something from Dinan, you can be pretty sure that it will run 100,000 miles with routine maintenance and will probably be one of the fastest performance upgrades on the market, though that’s not our primary objective. We can make a 1,000hp car, no problem, but it will only last a few hours on the racetrack. Our objective is always to make a 100,000-mile turnkey car that only requires routine maintenance. The power stops at that point, not what can ultimately be achieved. Our experience has been that customers want reliable cars they can drive every day that are as fast as they can be and meet those criteria.

The consumers who are looking for top horsepower are not concerned with longevity. Hence, Dinan offers little value to that market segment, that is until reported failures begin to surface.

FYI, I'd ask for 10% off the flash. The dealer will most likely agree to this 10%.
