NO!!!
This was my first phone. (It really was. I thought I was hot shit - hah.) I was just surprised you didn't use the term grandfather in your rebuttal. It was a sad miss. But I'll forgive it.

^^^I remember those. The company I worked for in the late 80's had them in their vehicles.

I'll give credit where credit is due...that was some funny $h1t. Bravo.
Back to our regularly scheduled program. How did the gerontologist appointment go? I'm here to support you. Also, as you probably had one of the 12 watt prototype cell phones and worked with Craig McCaw to build the network, you may have some issues, um...down there. I have a good friend who is one of the top urologists in the country. I can hook a brother (for now) up!!

First, as others have correctly pointed out, other company's unlimited plans are not that.
Second, Verizon has the best coverage in the US. They were able to achieve this by investing in their business. If the company does not make money, coverage and services will not improve. I have Verizon and commute on a train for over two hours each day. I stream SiriusXM while simultaneously surfing the web and playing online games (clash of clans) for the duration of my trip. We use around 4GB per month (includes my wife's usage). I have no use for unlimited and I'm a pretty heavy user. My bill is also lower than it was when I had unlimited so I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I do have a coworker who uses 12GB/mo but that's because his home wifi doesn't reach his master bedroom and he lives very close to the cell tower. He has held onto his legacy Verizon unlimited data plan. I actually think it's kind of silly because he could easily get his wifi expanded and stream at 50mbps throughout his home - faster than any cell service would be.

Yeah, I don't see this as greed on Verizon's part, I see this as a market-grabbing ploy by the other carriers. None of them can hold a candle to Verizon in terms of overall service, so the only thing they can offer is MORE sub-par service for the same or less money.
Verizon owns the market for a reason, they'd be stupid to devalue their product just to counter accusations of greed.

This was my first phone on Cellular One in NY. I thought I was so cool with this in my car and then you could actually carry it with you! Until I got my first bill. Holy shit! It was like $900. Wasn't so cool anymore.

Also, their customer service is amazing. I dropped my phone a month ago and cracked the screen. I didn't buy any insurance or protection plan on the phone so I thought I was screwed and tried to fix it myself. At that point the phone still worked just with the cracks. After taking it apart and putting on the new screen, I completely broke the phone. Called up Google expecting to have to buy a new phone, and they next day aired me a refurbished phone at no cost to me. |

i recently let go of my grandfathered unlimited data and switched to tiered.
verizon is pricy, there's no doubt about it...then i got notification that they were going to charge me more to keep my unlimited, on top of the already high price i was paying, i couldnt do it anymore. i used to use my data a lot, 80-120gigs a month....i travel a lot and use it to tether (much better than hotel internet)...but i also abused it, downloaded torrents straight to my phone. i now have an LTE card on my laptop that i can expense....so that solved my problem.
