See here: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/88608...adio-%C2%A3299

Apparently includes labour, fitting, VAT, 3 year warranty etc. £299 sounds like a bargain for that. Well the article is from 2013 so probably inflated by now.
That is what bmw says.
However its aftermarket kit which comes with aftermarket remote to change the channels.
Oh scratch that then

I have DAB with a CIC i picked up on ebay for a bargin price of £500. I did a retrofit from CCC that had DAB so already had the diversity antena.

If i was you i would keep an eye on ebay for second hand DAB CIC, isntall and code and sell the one that has been replaced on ebay to claw some of the money back.

To do this you would need the DAB CIC, Diversity Antena and a areal extension cable (i used 5m)

once instaled a quick bit of coding and you have OEM DAB!!

There is a really good thread on M3 cutters that guided me through the install and a video on youtube that showed me step by step how to code it

I fitted the autoDAB system to my E91 it is the same kit BMW retrofit just there's uses a remote when the autoDAB uses the head unit controls and steering wheel controls seamlessly. I took it out of the car after 5mths as although it gave the dab stations they were not played digitally in the car as both the BM system and the autoDAB put the converted DAB back through an analogue input so you get DAB through FM. Plus the reception is really piss poor when driving mine would be in signal one min and out the next so just got fed up with it to the point I removed it. So really I can't say any plus side to the DAB retrofit kits just wasted money and effort I found. I did have a full thread and install on my car and choosing it etc but that was on BMWLand forums which sadly are not available anymore.

The only way is the OEM route but it's costly, parts are like hens teeth and it will all need coding etc

I want to add OEM DAB to my E91, probably with a NBT EVO retrofit too - but my understanding is the the OEM DAB antenna is in the bloody window glass of the E91 rear window - so replacement would be required.

Does anyone know of a suitable OEM alternative to that, e.g using the antenna from another BMW, that could be placed somewhere else (ideally hidden) but still provided all the relevant connections etc?

You only need to change the diversity amplifier. The actual aerial stays the same.

My understanding is that an aerial is also required for DAB?

Happy to be wrong though, as that would make things much easier

Not true for e91 and e93.

I looked into it when I had e91.
Oem retrofit was very expensive if you add the cost of glass being changed and other filters involved.
I ended up having aftermarket active dab antenna at the front windshield. Signals were okish but not as good as oem!

I have seen this company fit a DAB aerial behind the rear bumper - do you know any anything like this that would work?

Thats where e93 has its oem dab antenna. Personally not tried it so no comments.

I had a privilege to try oem dab antenna in e90 versus aftermarket active dab antenna.
Difference was like day and night.

Good old BMW, they love to make things complicated!

It will be a while until I do anything like this, and I may just settle for no DAB / NBT Evo and go with a Combox instead!

Agree, I tried an aftermarket aerial and it was awful compared to the OEM one.

Is there not a DAB Ariel enabled shark fin in which you could run wiring down to required module for DAB to then be routed to the HU or is it just the only option on the E91 the glass out and in with DAB enabled unit
