Good to hear Rogue One is good.

Man, after the transition to Disney and them abandoning the SWU and how JJ Abrams screwed up Ep 7 so bad I was really turned off Star Wars and I am a lifer going back to 'Empire' theatrical release.

Saw it with my son on opening day.......it's our tradition to see all the Star Wars films (new or re-released) on opening day.

Absolutely loved it, we both thought it was a "in your face Disney" film from Lucas that blew away the last debacle (BB8 marketing film) that Disney put out.

Go see it, you will love it!

I don't trust the critics after they said Prometheus was bad ( great movie)

Off topic : I was hoping for Prometheus 2 but now it's alien convent which I hope had the same narrative as Prometheus

Glad to see such positive reviews here. I've read two critics--one was loving it and the other was not so. The original Star Wars is and will always be my favorite and most life changing movie, with Empire right behind. I will be going by myself to see Rogue One, when the crowds have died down. I need to fully concentrate and of course will download it when it becomes available to analyze further.
I've probably seen Star Wars 30 times.

I really don't see how there could be any character development. This movie was meant to be a transition between EP 3 and EP 4. Without giving too much away, people who haven't seen it will understand what I mean after seeing the movie. Under the parameters of why this movie was made, I think they hit the proverbial nail on the head with the proper balance.

Not a fan of the ending, and the CG of the characters from Episode IV turned me off a little. Giving it 7 on a scale of 1-10.

I did not particularly like this movie. I thought the cinematography at times was stunning. Story-wise, I thought it was boring, overly simplistic, unimaginative, and frankly speaking forgettable.

Obviously the character development is lacking but that's forgivable. I'm not marking the movie down based on this. I don't expect a movie to fully develop brand new characters within the span of 2 hours.

I enjoyed the last 5 minutes of the movie where Darth Vader went to town, but it's not enough for me to recommend the movie to others.

I think the best movies out in theaters right now are Hacksaw Ridge and Arrival.

That's the best part, death destruction, not everyone goes home true sacrifice, kamikaze, at all cost mentality

I mean it's safe to say our tastes in movies are just very different.

Although I fail to see how Star Wars is any less of a "fairy tale" than Arrival. The story for Rogue one was literally identical to previous Star Wars installments. Abandoned child forced to grow up without parents only to meet them later in life.

To my knowledge there isn't a movie out there with the same core plot line as Arrival, but that also may be part of the issue. I'm assuming you haven't seen previous Star Wars movies since you did not think Rogue One lacked imagination, just as I haven't seen whatever movies you're referring to regarding Arrival lacking imagination.

Arrival was cool, it offered a different way of thinking about interactions, language, and theoretical thinking in non-native languages.

The coolest part of the movie (in my opinion) was when they changed the gravity plain to get into the ship.

Trying to go see Rogue 1 this week to see what the fuss is about.

I will give you same story, but well done, darker, more identifiable. More about the small people. But episode 7 my god..... A bigger Death Star, son turned evil....old creepy guy pulling the strings.

I liked interstellar, but I felt arrival could have done better, happy endings blow, I like the way seven ended for example, "what's in the box".

Will see passenger and hoping it does not disappoint
