It's because originally the passenger side didn't have the Velcro discs so it would slide forward and bend. You could try gently warming the mat to see if it relaxes but I doubt it considering how hot a car gets in the summer. I'd be wary if any direct heat in case you melt the fibres.

Can you buy the Velcro discs on their own? Could do with a set for the passenger side cos it keeps sliding forward and bending.

Yes you can buy the disks separately and if you use a heat gun do the underside of the matt.

New sets come with them for both sides, or at least mine did, guessing BMW realised the problem.

My OEM rubber mats came with with a pair for both sides as well.

Im sure that OEM are better but i've done 40K miles on some cheap (c£15-£20) from vauecarmats.com...and they still look good, seems a bit excessive to pay OEM price
